Key Takeaways
  • Player balances and points will be transferred to iPoker skin Dafa Poker.
  • Company will focus on a different poker business model, with a new product to launch “in the coming months.”

Online poker room PokerAce is to close its doors this Wednesday, June 5, after just ten months of operation. Player balances and points will be transferred to DafaPoker, an iPoker skin.

Dubbed “The Asian Online Poker Room,” Philippines-based PokerAce was looking to target the Asian poker market, but accepted players worldwide.

It launched in late August 2012 using independent online poker software. Joe Hachem, JC Tran, Steve Gee and tournament pro Nam Lee signed up as pros for the site.

Dafa Poker is also licensed in the Philippines. Before Wednesday, players can continue to play on PokerAce and withdrawal requests above $500 will be honored. Once the transition is made, players will be required to download the Dafa client, where they will have access to their full account balances to withdraw.

According to an FAQ on the site, the PokerAce business model is pivoting.

“We have decided to focus on a different business model for our online poker offering,” reads the statement. “We will be migrating to a new product in the coming months.”

Since launch, PokerAce has failed to gain any traction. PokerScout, an independent monitor of online poker rooms, has estimated zero traffic each month since its inception.
