A recent client update on the PokerStars.com software indicates that Zoom multi-table tournaments will be coming soon.
A new “Zoom” option is now available under the “Format / Variant” filter for tournaments in the PokerStars software. No actual Zoom tournaments have been deployed yet, but the introduction into the filter suggests it is not far away.
Fast-fold MTTs were another innovation of Full Tilt Poker, launching “Rush tournaments” in April 2010, just four months after Rush Poker debuted at the cash tables.
Like on standard fast-fold tables, in a fast-fold MTT players move to another hand as soon as they fold. In Full Tilt’s implementation, play goes short-handed when down to 30 players to ensure fast-folding still works. When down to the final table, the games switches to a standard format.
Despite most other poker rooms and networks now having their own version of a fast-fold poker product, none have tried to repeat fast-fold tournaments, so it is one unique feature that players are looking forward to with the return of Full Tilt Poker in two weeks.
It will be interesting to see if PokerStars attempts to beat its faux-rival Full Tilt to the punch with the launch of Zoom Tournaments before November 6. It is also launching “run it twice,” another FTP favorite, which is likely to have full deployment before Tilt returns.
