Witness List Released for US House of Representatives Hearing: “The State of Online Gaming”
Strong voices in favor and in opposition to online gambling should be balanced by some less partial testimony at the December 10 Hearing.
- The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee of Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade has published the witness list for its hearing entitled “The State of Online Gaming” on December 10.
- The pro-poker lobby is headed by John Pappas from the PPA, while the anti-online gambling witnesses include Andrew Abboud from the Las Vegas Sands, and Les Bernal,National Director of Stop Predatory Gambling.
EPT Prague First Event Set to be “Biggest Ever”

- The EPT Prague got underway Sunday with its first event, the Main Event of PokerStars’ Eastern European poker tour Eureka!
- The Eureka main is the start of ten days of poker action at the Hilton Prague Hotel.
- The Prague Poker Festival, hosted in the Card Casino on the other side of the city, is already in full swing, having gotten underway late last week.

The million Kroner challenge match between Norwegian politician Erlan Wiborg and PLO pro Ola “Odd Oddsen” Amundsrud has started badly for the pro-poker politico. After the first 1,000 hands at $0.5/$1 PLO, the pro is up $2,666.

- It really doesn’t matter who wins, both players will have made their point: online poker is a skill game which should be legal in Norway.

Holland Casino Plays Safe With Playtech
The financially-troubled Netherlands gambling monopoly has selected Playtech to develop a platform for roulette, blackjack, slot machines, poker and bingo. Holland Casino currently has the monopoly on land based casino gambling in the Netherlands, but in preparation for new laws it has struck a deal with Playtech to develop online games.
Players to Get VIP Bump as Ladbrokes Transitions off MPN to iPoker on December 21
The move was originally announced in March after a five year deal was signed with Playtech plc. December 21 will see Ladbrokes finally move from MPN to the iPoker network, after announcing their intentions to do so earlier this year. Their casino operations will remain on a Microgaming platform until Spring next year.
