We review this week in poker podcasts

TWIPP 1-1-12

Happy New Year everyone! Being on holiday this week offered me more time than usual to listen to some new poker podcasts. There are some real good year-in-review shows out there, but I also found more than a few stinkers. For the most part, I found the new podcasts I sampled to be not very good. There were so many lemons out this week that perhaps it was my mood? So, I decided to not blast these newbies and give them another shot in the upcoming weeks.

The first podcast I listened to this week was very cool. The guys on the 2+2 PokerCast put together an awesome show that looks back at the top stories of 2011. Even though their poker media segment left out a particular independent poker news site, if you are going to pick one podcast to listen to this week: this is the one.

The Filthy Limper was my next selection. I had it high on my list of shows to listen to this week. I was hoping to catch the poker news version, AMIRITE. However, episode 3 of their news version was not released. So, I thought I’d give their regular show another listen. I have heard their show before and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, I never got to their show. After over five minutes of listening there was no content. It was advertising after advertising with their theme song sandwiched in between. I was so turned off by this that I just moved on. Really bad form guys.

I found a real gem of a show in The Rabbit Hunt. They go in-depth into the implications of the DOJ letter and even further into the Nevada legislation that approved online poker in the state. Though some of the opinions expressed seem to be on the optimistic side, they are more closely aligned with my opinion than many of the naysayers that have been vocal as of late.

DonkDown once again tops my list of podcasts that look really good but I faied to get to. Jamie Gold is usually a pretty good listen on his own, but team him up with the guys at DonkDown and it shows a lot of promise.

That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other podcasts for my listening pleasure.
