Svenska Spel Chairwoman Anitra Steen has given an interview where she staunchly defends the non-profit monopoly gaming provider system in Sweden. The interview came following a complaint to the EU Commission which was made by the Swedish Newspaper Publishers’ Association Tidningsutgivarna (TU) in December.

The Code came into force on January 1, though the new Netherlands gaming laws are unlikely to be implemented until the beginning of 2015, possibly later.

Betfair Poker Revenues Fall 60%
Estimates of the impact of the UK POC tax bolster Betfair’s case for the UK Treasury to lower rate. A month ago Betfair’s latest financial announcement listed underlying profits at £32.5m, 56% higher than the same period last year. The detailed accounts recently released show that within these overall figures, revenues from online poker fell 60%.
