The world’s biggest sweepstakes poker site, ClubWPT Gold (CWG), is welcoming the summer with a massive 50 million chips guaranteed tournament poker series dubbed Summer of Gold.

Running from May 24 to June 28, the Summer of Gold will overlap with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, offering players an online alternative to the WSOP events on the Strip.

While the series is clearly designed as CWG’s attempt to compete with the WSOP, for many players it will be an opportunity to get in extra volume, as they play both live and online events at the WSOP and CWG at the same time.

In total, the Summer of Gold is set to feature six Gold Millions events, 76 Crown Series events, and four events that will award WPT trophies.

Fierce Competition for the Summer Tournament Slots

The summer has traditionally been the most attractive part of the year for tournament poker, with the WSOP festival dominating the schedule throughout June and July.

For a long time, the WSOP was the only serious tournament series playing during the summer months, but competition has become more aggressive in recent years, with live poker venues throughout Las Vegas throwing tournament series of their own in the same period.

Properties like the Aria and the Wynn are expected to offer a lot of opportunities for poker players this summer, and there is still a chance that the WPT will organize a live championship event this summer.

On top of the live competition, ClubWPT Gold has been aggressively competing with the WSOP since its launch. In 2025, the operator gave away a million dollars to players who could qualify for WSOP events and proceed to win them.

This quirky promotion led to major controversy in the $1,500 Millionaire Maker, where one of the final two players was due to win the million-dollar bonus from CWG.

This year, CWG looks set to avoid such promotions and is instead throwing its own tournament poker festival, paying out at least 50 million chips over the course of a month of heated online poker action.

Partial Summer of Gold Schedule Revealed

The full Summer of Gold schedule has not been released yet, but we already know some details about the key events of the series.

The festival will feature 76 Crown Series events, building on the success of the Crown Series festival played earlier in the year, where players can win trophies and bespoke jerseys for their success.

Another six Gold Millions events have also been teased, and each of these events should pay at least one million chips to players who make the money, with the possibility of even larger prize pools.

Finally, CWG has announced that a total of four WPT-branded tournaments will take place, including the 1,100-chip WPT Prime Championship with a 1.5 million-chip guarantee and a WPT500 PLO event with a 530-chip buy-in and a 400,000-chip guarantee.

Two more WPT events will be played as part of the massive schedule, and some of these events may yet be fully or partially played at real poker tables at Las Vegas properties like the Wynn, which typically host WPT tournaments.

ClubWPT Gold Continues with Rapid Expansion

Ever since its launch in early 2025, which was preceded by a massive WPT World Championship festival at the Wynn, ClubWPT Gold has been spreading through the USA like wildfire.

As sweepstakes poker sites started running into legal problems across the country, ClubWPT Gold switched its operating model to a training-based platform and has continued expanding with no signs of slowing down.

To date, the operator’s largest tournament series was played last summer, and it only guaranteed a total of 14 million chips.

Compared to that, the Summer of Gold promises a major boost in payouts, although it is not yet clear if all 50 million of the advertised chips will be paid through tournament prize pools or if that number also includes the promotions.

In either case, it’s safe to say that the Summer of Gold will be the biggest poker festival thrown by CWG to date, and likely the biggest tournament series yet in the sweepstakes poker arena.

ClubWPT Gold’s expansion and success continue to rely on the highly respected WPT brand, which carries a lot of weight with American poker players, as well as the exceptional technology behind the platform and its current legal status, which makes it the most widely available sweepstakes poker site in the country.
