A memorial ceremony and charity poker tournament will be held for the late Chad Brown this Sunday July 13, at the Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas.
The memorial service will commence at 4:00pm local time in the Binion’s Longhorn Lounge and will be hosted by Vanessa Rousso, Jennifer Winter, Beau Eurell, and Lupe Soto.
Two hours later, a $200+25 buy-in NLHE charity tournament benefiting the T.J. Martell Foundation will kick off.
Half of the proceeds from the charity event, which will feature unlimited $50 rebuys and a Dealer Add-On for $50, will be earmarked for charity while the other half will go directly into the tournament’s prize pool.
PokerStars will match the funds raised toward charity and has also set aside a variety of prizes—including a $10,000 2015 PCA Main Event seat for Sunday’s winner as well as a Montreal Festival Main Event entry—including five nights of lodging—for the runner-up finisher.
Other prizes include a PPC Poker Tour Aruba World Championship package worth $1,500, an entry into the 2015 WPT500 Main Event at Aria, and eyewear from BlueSharkOptics.com.
Brown, who lost a three-year battle with cancer on July 2, was awarded an honorary World Series of Poker bracelet in an unprecedented ceremony just days before his passing at the age of 52.
The late professional poker player amassed $3.6 million in live tournament cashes over a career that spanned two decades. He was widely recognized as an extremely pleasant personality by his colleagues and media representatives alike.
