After going into an additional day of play, Chicago poker pro Alexander Ziskin outlasted the field of 1,796 players to take down Event #29: $1500 No-Limit Hold’em.

460 hands played out on the final table, half of which were played heads up against German poker pro Jens Grieme before Ziskin walked away with the top prize of $401,494 and the first gold bracelet of his career.

Despite not winning, Grieme’s fight against Ziskin is already being billed as one of the greatest heads up battles in the 47 year history of the World Series of Poker.

A notable in the money finisher was David Williams a gold bracelet winner back in 2006, who made his deepest run in two years with a 12th place finish in this event.

Event #31: $1000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em

Pennsylvanian Physician and Radiologist James Moore collected gold in Event #31 as he beat 1,476 players to the title.

“This is an unbelievable thrill for me” said Moore on his win. “I had absolutely no expectations. It’s every poker player’s dream and mine just came true.”

The event is now in its second year and came as an offshoot of the Senior World Championship—that requires players to be 50 years or older. The Super Seniors event is open for players 65 and older.

75 year old Texan, Charles Barker finished as runner up in second place—taking home $142,461 in prize winnings.
