The World Series of Poker has released its 2012-2013 Circuit Event Schedule. Immediately following the most successful WSOP Circuit Tour in eight seasons, the ninth will kick-off at the IP Casino Resort & Spa in Biloxi, Mississippi in August and end in New Orleans in May 2013.
The “#1 domestic poker tour” in the United States is scheduled to make an unprecedented 20 stops including its first ever outside the US: The River Rock Casino in Vancouver Canada will host its WSOPC slate of events starting on October 27.
There are also three other new stops on the tour, including the new Horseshoe Cleveland, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and Harrah’s Cherokee in Cherokee, North Carolina.
The tour culminates with the National Championship Event in New Orleans, Louisiana from May 21-23, 2013 where the top one hundred players of the tour will be entered into a freeroll with a guaranteed $1m prize pool and a WSOP bracelet.
Along with the National Championship bracelet, the WSOPC awards rings to the winners of its events. Buyins range from $365 to $1675. Last season the tour broke its previous record for participation with 71,691 entrants.
Controversy arose on the tour last season when some stops on the tour allowed for add-on chips in exchange for “staff appreciation fees.” The additional fees were not disclosed in advance, but collected at the table once the entrance fee was paid. Organizers argued that the additional fees were not mandatory, but those that chose not to participate were handicapped by a smaller starting stack. This year the WSOPC will no longer allow add-on chips at any of its stops.
