- Elezra wins event #59, $2500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw and captures his second career bracelet.
- Daniel now sits just behind Matthew Ashton for the POY lead.
In a summer where big names became repeat bracelet winners, you can now add well-watched TV and live pro Eli Elezra to that list.
With his victory in event #59, $2500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw the well-liked former Israeli Army officer claimed his second career bracelet as well as over $173,000 in first place prize money.
As with many of the WSOP’s specialty events, the Final Table was a full of players who would be considered “pro’s pros” including Scott Seiver, David “ODB” Baker, David Chiu and Brian Brubaker. In the end though, Elezra would have to march over the white hot Daniel Negreanu who, right up until yesterday, held the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year lead for most of the summer.
Even with a 2nd place finish and an additional $107k in his bankroll, the smaller field of 282 runners for this event was not enough to help Negreanu take back the lead in the POY race. According to WSOP.com, Daniel still sits just behind Matthew Ashton but still has a sizable lead over David “Bakes” Baker, who sits in 3rd.
