Key Takeaways
  • Pokerfuse reviews the high stakes online poker cash games of the week.

Things just don’t seem to be getting any better for Gus Hansen as he added to his yearly downswing over on Full Tilt recording the biggest loss of the week, while PokerStars and Full Tilt cash game pros shared five spots each in the top 10 most profitable positions of the week, according to HighStakesdb.com

Despite a higher than usual number of PokerStars players making it into the top 10, none of them could muster up a six figure profit. A different story unfolded over on Full Tilt Poker as there were three players that recorded profits in the six figure range.

Vega_Lion was the player that topped the charts after accumulating all of the profit over just 3 days. Beginning last Monday and finishing on Wednesday Vega_Lion played 10 sessions and 885 hands before clocking off for the rest of the week. Despite the lack of appearances and the small number of hands played, it was enough to secure this week’s top spot.

This week’s top 10 online poker profits

Gus Hansen was off to an incredible start after winning $902,012 from just 19 sessions and 3,839 hands playing PLO and Triple Draw last Monday.

On Tuesday things were quiet, and Hansen retained his previous day’s profit, but come mid-week the ‘Great Dane’ suffered a huge $480,199 loss playing 15 sessions and 1,050 hands.

He took more blows to his bankroll with $242,052 and $64,938 losses on Thursday and Friday respectively. Hansen then finished a miserable week losing $420,906 on Saturday and $491,648 on Sunday. His entire week came crashing down within 108 sessions and 10,210 hands recording a phenomenal $770,139 loss.

This week’s Top 10 online poker losses

Viktor “Isildur” Blom made the week’s most impressive comeback after he started Monday and Tuesday recording 29 sessions, 2,554 hands and $361,088 in the red.

Blom was as ever defiant grinding back $426,063 over the following 2 days in 45 sessions and 3,732 hands bringing him back into the black. However, Friday and Saturday proved to be too tough as the Swede hit another downswing losing $232,258 over another 25 sessions comprised of 2,962 hands.

On Sunday Blom could have slid further, but his resilient play and usual hyper-aggressive style were enough to pull back $102,014 after starting the day with a $167,283 loss. His persistence meant that he would end this week with what is a respectable loss for Blom leaving just $65,268 to overcome next week.

Blom is now online poker’s second highest earner this year with $998,766, while he is topped by Dan “jungleman12” Cates who has $1,607,586 in profit.

On the bottom end of the scale Gus Hansen still remains the biggest loser for 2014 recording a $2,245,812 in just under three months.
