The World Poker Tour Alpha 8 Super High Roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open kicked off yesterday. Eighteen players combined for 21 total entries at a $100,000 a pop to take a shot at the first place prize of $891,660. As the tournament moves into day two, only nine players remain. Those left find themselves at the unofficial final table, and are looking to chip up into the top four spots, the only places that get paid.

As one might expect, the entrants list is a veritable who’s who of elite poker professionals which included Andrew Lichtenberger, Chris Klodnicki, Brandon Steven, Jason Koon and Daniel Perper. Unfortunately for those players, they were unable to survive the day. It was twice as disappointing for Perper who, along with Issac Haxton and Daniel Alaei, fired two 100k bullets into the event.

The final nine still include some of the biggest names in poker including chip leader Matt Glantz, followed closely by Florida native and Team PokerStars superstar Jason Mercier.

Also still in the hunt is 4-time WSOP Bracelet winner and WPT Champion Daniel Alaei, Issac Haxton, Steven Silverman, Jeff Gross, former November Niner Joseph Cheong, fun-time businessman Bill Perkins and current chip leader of the 2013 November Nine, and recent 888Poker Team Pro, JC Tran.

The action starts back up at noon EST and with the elimination of one more player, the televised final table will be set. Visit the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open website to follow the action and get live updates.
