Jesse Martin Crowned 2013 2-7 Draw Lowball Champion

By most accounts 2-7 is one of the lesser played games in today’s Hold’em/PLO poker landscape. That didn’t stop 87 players from ponying up 10k and taking a run at Event #43, $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball NL Championship. In the end it was professional Jesse Martin who rose above the marquee final table to claim his first elusive gold bracelet and over $253,000 in first place prize money.

As one might imagine, with just 87 runners and a 10k buy-in, the field was a who’s who of poker royalty and Martin had no easy task in front of him at the start of Day 3. As reported by WSOP.com, the Final Table was stacked with bracelet winners including Layne “Back To Back” Flack, David “Bakes” Baker, John “World” Hennigan, Jeff Lisandro, Russia’s Konstantin Puchkov and the only other non-bracelet holder left was online phenom Jon “PearlJammer” Turner.

In the end though it was the high-stakes Martin who kept it low and threw his hands up in victory.
