Loni Harwood Ascends In Event #60

Not since Cindy Violette in 2005 had a woman reached three final tables in a single WSOP series.

Twenty-three year old Staten Island resident and WSOP circuit grinder Loni Harwood tied that record by making the final 9 in event #60—and did one better by besting the over 2500 runners and winning the $1500 No-Limit tournament for over $600k and her first WSOP gold bracelet.

The victory marks an amazing summer for Harwood who, according to WSOP.com, has gone from no previous cashes in WSOP events to 6. Winnings of over $874k is the most ever for a woman during a single series. In fact, her first place prize money alone was a record payout for a woman at a WSOP summer event.

Hardwood’s historic win also places her firmly in the WSOP race. Now sitting in 3rd place, Loni just sits behind $50k Poker Players Champion Matthew Ashton and WSOP-APAC Main Event Winner Daniel Negreanu, with the Main Event, which starts Day 1C today at 12PM PST, still in her sights.
