High stakes heads up action hit the virtual felt this weekend as a $100k battle between Douglas “WCGRider” Polk and Ben “Sauce1234” Sulsky kicked off Sunday at Full Tilt Poker. The pair, who have agreed to a 15,000 hand heads-up challenge, fired up three tables of $100/$200 NLHE and wasted no time mixing it up.
It was agreed that stacks would be reloaded if they dipped under $20k and if a player was all-in and called, they would run it twice. What was initially thought to be a few hours of poker just to get things started, turned into an all day affair for the railbirds as Polk and Sulsky completed over 15% of the challenge in the first sitting, having played nearly 2500 hands over the course of 8.5 hours.
According to the action updates over on the Full Tilt Poker website, variance was on WCGRider’s side as he reportedly ran $90k above EV and ended the first session up a whopping $227k.
It helped when Polk flopped top two against Sulsky’s aces, hit top set when running QQ into KK and also had Sauce run KK into his AA, all for massive pots.
Currently, action is set to resume this Wednesday, September 18 at 12pm EST with another 3 hours session. To get reminded, or should the times change, follow Polk or Full Tilt Poker on Twitter.
