The Rio’s Carnivale of Poker Returns for the WSOP

The Rio Casino has decided to bring back the Carnivale of Poker— a 21 event series of tournaments held during the WSOP starting next week. It was last played at the Rio in 2000.

WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel reminded the industry: “These were major events back in the day and it was very Rio-centric, which blended into the property well.”

The WSOP is adding $100k to be split between the top ten finishers in a Player of the Series competition. Each event winner will also get a medallion specially commissioned by the WSOP.

Entry fees range from $365 to $580 with a Main Event set at a buy in of $1,675. A variety of games will be used; although events are mainly No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha, there will also be a HORSE event and an Open Face Chinese event.

All events will run on Monday and Tuesday at the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
