Hardware Awarded
It was an action packed weekend at The World Series of Poker in which four more bracelets were awarded, all to first time recipients.
Trevor Pope went wire to wire as the chip leader at the Final Table of Event #2, $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (8-Handed) to claim gold while Charles Sylvestre battled through the large field of Event #3, $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em to win his first WSOP bracelet.
It was John Beauprez that outlasted a tough final table that included WSOP Main Event Champion Joe Cada in Event #4, $1,500 No-Limit (Six Handed). Professional poker player and mixed game specialist Mike Gorodinsky took down the first of the non No-Limit Hold’em events on his way to his first bracelet as he was crowned winner of Event #5, $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better.
Massive Fields, Millions In Prize Money
Event #6, named the “Millionaire Maker,” had over 6300 runners, a WSOP record for a non-Main Event tournament. Due to that fact, they added an extra day to the event and even canceled one of the Daily Deepstacks to accommodate the player pool. Day 3 starts today at 1:00PM PST and finds 2013 Borgata Winter Open Champion, Andy Hwang, with a commanding chip lead of the 133 remaining players.
Also coming back today at 1PM PST is the remaining 148 players in Event #7, $1000 No-Limit Hold’em and the top of the leader board is stacked with some of the game’s best and brightest as Eric Baldwin, Adam Geyer and Annette Obrestad occupy the top three slots headed into day 2.
Making for a packed house at the Rio, Event #8, Eight-Game Mix gets Day 2 underway at 2PM PST with a “who’s who in poker” list of participants remaining.
Looking Ahead
Event #9, $3000 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout (2000 Players Max), kicks off today at 12:00PM PST and, Event #10, the first of the Limit Hold’em events with a $1500 buy-in starts at 5:00PM.
