PokerStars Announces 17th Anniversary Sunday Million in March PokerStars Announces 17th Anniversary Sunday Million in March

The Sunday Million has been one of the most prestigious and anticipated online poker events each week for years now, and PokerStars will celebrate the event’s 17th anniversary on Sunday, March 26.

In its traditional manner, PokerStars will run a special edition Sunday Million to mark the anniversary. This time around, the event will come with a $215 buy-in and a $7,500,000 guaranteed prize pool. This guarantee will probably be shattered by the tens of thousands of entries we can expect.

Previous anniversary editions of the Sunday Million attracted massive player pools, with last year’s totaling over 55,000 entries and a $931,885 first-place prize. The one before that attracted nearly 70,000 entries, a massive field which Vanessa Kade overcame to win $1,514,920.

It will be interesting to see how the 17th Anniversary Sunday Million compares to previous years, but it’s likely that we will see more than $10,000,000 change hands on the big day.

17th Anniversary Sunday Million: Dates and Structure

The special anniversary edition of Sunday Million will start on Sunday, March 26, at 6:05 GMT, which means you still have plenty of time to prepare your buy-ins or win some entries via a plethora of satellites that PokerStars have prepared.

The $215 buy-in will get you 20,000 chips, with blinds starting at 50/100/12 and going up every 20 minutes, giving you plenty of room to maneuver.

Up to five re-entries will also be allowed, so you will have more than one chance to build up a big stack before the end of registration. Day 1 will conclude after 18 levels have been played, with the remaining players advancing to Day 2.

The second of the tournament will play out the next day, on March 27, and will see blind levels go down to 15 minutes. Play will continue for 32 levels, with the remaining players returning for one final day of action.

The champion of the 17th Anniversary Sunday Million will be named on Tuesday, March 28, when all remaining players will come back and play poker until one player wins every last chip in play.

If you are planning to play the event, make sure you are ready for several long days of tournament action and mentally prepared for all the ups and downs a tournament like this may bring.

Win Your Way into the 17th Anniversary Sunday Million

The $215 buy-in may seem like nothing compared to the massive guaranteed prize pool, but it is still a hefty entry fee for an online event. Thankfully, PokerStars is running a range of satellite tournaments where you can win your seats for fractions of the price.

Satellites will run across all stakes and game types, and you can fully expect to see some tickets being given away through Spin & Goes as well, as the event draws closer.

The operator is also running several daily freebuy satellites for the special edition Sunday Million, which are completely free to enter and allow $0.27 re-buys, with a single seat into the event guaranteed each time.

With thousands of seats likely to be given away and plenty of other action going non-stop, all that’s left is to head on over to PokerStars, create your account, and jump right into the thick of it.
