PokerStars is offering a reload bonus worth up to $250 as part of its SCOOP 2012 promotion. Players who take advantage of this offer qualify for a 50% bonus on deposits up to $500.
This news should please players who complained about the 10th anniversary reload bonus which was set at a much smaller $10.
The absence of meaningful reload bonuses has been the subject of much discussion on 2+2 forums following the second player representatives meeting in the Isle of Man. PokerStars has not used reload bonuses as a major marketing tool for some years.
The big success of Zoom poker may have put pressure on the marketing team to increase the size and frequency of deposits. This promotion may mean that PokerStars is rethinking its strategy, or it could be responding to player pressure to give existing players higher benefits.
The reload bonus will be paid out in $10 increments. Players must earn 200 VPPs to get each increment and there are 30 days to clear the whole bonus. Only deposits made by 23:59 EST May 3 will qualify.
PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) 2012 will comprise 40 events and is expected to pay out in excess of $40 million in prizes.
