PokerStars experienced technical difficulties that have caused the operator to induce an emergency server restart. Unfortunately, the server restart did not correct the issues.
Reports of connection problems and frozen tables started flooding 2+2 Tuesday afternoon. Representatives from the site have been keeping players informed and updated via email, twitter and posts on 2+2. After the restart attempt Steve Day, PokerStars representative, posted on 2+2:
This problem is proving more difficult to resolve than most. We are working hard on identifying and resolving all issues but I do not yet have an estimate of when the site will be back up and functional.
Questions about how PokerStars will handle tournament cancellations are documented on their web site. PokerStars also tweeted that, “All ring game hands finished properly and all pots were awarded accordingly.”
Hours after the issues began players are returning to the tables. Though PokerStars has not announced that all is clear, reports from players indicate that the poker room is back to normal.
