The 2024 WSOP Europe Main Event

The 2024 World Series of Poker Main Event takes place towards the end of the series, running October 4 — 9. The tournament will likely feature two starting flights, and it comes with a now-traditional guarantee of €5,000,000.

The WSOP Europe has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, breaking attendance records year after year. The latest one was set in 2023 when a total of 817 entrants took it to the tables. The 2024 iteration might break that record, though, as organizers expect at least 400 qualifiers to descend on Rozvadov come October.

Last year’s winner, Max Neugebauer, pocketed €1.5 million for his efforts, while everyone who made it to the final table of eight walked away with six-figure scores.

WSOP Europe 2024 Highlights

The Main Event is, of course, the marquee event of the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe, but there are a few other tournaments on the schedule that will likely generate a fair bit of interest with the players.

Those looking for a shot at big money without a big risk, there are two must-play events, the €350 Opener on September 18 and the €550 Colossus on September 25. These two tournaments offer guarantees of €1,000,000 and €1,500,000, respectively, which is a great value for a three-figure buy-in.

Kicking things off in October is the €1,100 Mystery Bounty event. With the popularity of this particular format on the rise, it’s no surprise 2024 WSOPE decided to add it to the schedule, and with a fairly affordable buy-in, this one is likely to attract a decent crowd.

Those with deeper pockets will appreciate the opportunity to put their skills to the test and fight for €1,000,000 prize pools up for grabs in the €25,000 GGMillion$ and the €50,000 Diamond High Roller, taking place on September 30 and October 3.

WSOP Europe 2024 Satellites

There are different ways to qualify for the 2024 WSOP Europe. Online satellites will be hosted by GGPoker, World Series of Poker official partner, and we’ll update this page accordingly, as and when more details about WSOPE online satellites are available.

While no online satellites have been scheduled at this time, the official press release from WSOP indicates they are expecting 350 qualifiers for Day 1A of the Main Event alone. This means the organizers have serious plans in place to provide a rather extensive satellite schedule in coming months.

Many live poker rooms and casinos will also be hosting various qualifiers to the 2024 WSOPE Main Event, offering entries or full-scale packages covering players’ buy-ins, travel, and accommodation.

WSOP Europe History

The World Series of Poker Europe was established in 2007. This was the first time in the series’ long history that it ventured outside of Las Vegas, announcing things to come.

The Empire Casino in London played host for the inaugural WSOP Europe, which featured only three bracelet-awarding events. One of these was the £10,000 Main Event and as luck would have it, that event was one by Annette Obrestad, a poker player from Norway who was only 18 years old at the time. Thus, she became the youngest WSOP bracelet winner in the history of the series.

Following the 2007 rollout, WSOP Europe became a regular feature, and for the next three years, it took place in London. After that, it moved to France for a couple of years.

When it comes to historic moments that marked the WSOPE, 2012 was one of the most important years. In 2012, the poker legend Phil Hellmuth took down the WSOP Europe Main Event, making him the only player to win both Main Events – in Las Vegas and Europe.

In 2014, the WSOP decided to introduce WSOP Asia-Pacific, which would rotate with WSOP Europe, so there were no 2014 and 2016 WSOPE events. The 2015 European series was held in Germany.

In 2017, King’s Casino in Rozvadov, the Czech Republic, became the official host for the WSOP Europe, and it has held this spot ever since. Over the years, the number of WSOP Europe events continued to increase, and these days, most WSOP Europe stops feature 15 bracelet-awarding events.
