Nevada, Delaware Compact “Vindicates” 888’s US Approach
888 says new interstate agreement justifies its state-by-state roll-out and network model.
- 888 Holdings has welcomed what it calls a “historic” instate compact signed by Nevada and New Jersey.
- “This pooling compact will help 888 and its partners deliver a world-class gaming experience to poker players in Delaware and Nevada given we are the only operator live in both, vindicating our approach to launch in all regulating states.”
Illinois Exploring Internet Gambling Again
PPA’s John Pappas argues for online gaming regulation.
- The Illinois Executive Senate Committee held a hearing on Wednesday to discuss the pros and cons of online gambling.
- John Pappas, Executive Director of the Poker Players Alliance, testified that regulation of online gaming was the most effective way of protecting consumers.
- Senate President John Cullerton, who has been pushing for online gambling in Illinois for the last two years, told reporters after the hearing, “[t]he point is people are already gambling, and we’re not making any of the money.”
- While Illinois legislators continue to eye gambling expansion in the state, a bill has yet to be introduced in this session that includes internet gaming.
Palm Beach Kennel Club and WSOP Impose Total Ban on Player Who Stole Tournament Chip
Chan Pelton admitted the Feb 16 theft which was confirmed by video surveillance.
- The WSOP supports the decision and has imposed its own ban
- The PBKC has determined that Pelton will forfeit his prize money, circuit ring and National Championship points.
- Security practices of live tournament organizers are being highly scrutinized following an incident at the Borgata last month that saw a perpetrator introduce counterfeit chips into the Borgata Winter Open $2 Million Guarantee event.
Betfair Receives Bulgarian Online Gaming License
Betfair has become the latest online gaming operator to be issued a license from the Bulgarian State Commission on Gambling (SCG).
- Two licenses for Betfair, one for sportsbetting and one for casino games, including poker.
- Betfair’s license follows PokerStars’ successful application confirmed last week.
Revolution Gaming Refreshes Sit and Go Structures
Tables down to from 10-man to 9, and rake rounds off across buyins.
- Troubled network Revolution Gaming has introduced major changes to its SNG structures. The changes were announced by leading skin Intertops in a post on 2+2.
- The major shift is from 10 player to 9 player tables, but rake changes form the centerpiece of the new strategy.
- The SNG changes may herald more changes to come as Revolution Gaming attempts to rebuild itself.

WPT Super High Roller Champ confirms he’s stepping away. In a brief exchange on Twitter this week ESPN featured poker professional David “Doc” Sands confirmed that he was, “to a certain extent” retiring from poker. The one-time World Poker Tour Super High Roller Champion boasts over $5.7 million dollars in lifetime earnings and the ability to have talked Erica Moutinho into marrying him.

New Jersey Cash Game Traffic Suggests Growth Unlikely in Feb Revenues
