World Poker Tour Addresses Scheduling Conflict With EPT

World Poker Tour (WPT) President Adam Pliska addressed the growing concerns of players regarding the conflict between the dates of the WPT Championship event and the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo Championship event today.

  • Concerns began to surface when players noticed that the dates of both events overlapped as the WPT unveiled the schedule for the second half of its season last week.
  • World Poker Tour officials have been in “close discussions” with officials from the EPT to hopefully allow those players who wish to play both events to be able to do so.
  • “The final table of the WPT Main event occurs on Saturday April 26, and Day 1A of the EPT Main Event occurs on the same day. Day 1B of the EPT Main Event takes place on Sunday April 27, and players are able to enter prior to the start of the EPT Day 2 on Monday April 28.”

  • The range of guaranteed tournaments has been extended, and the profit bump comes even though 30 of 68 Mon-Sat MTTs had overlays totaling $45k.
  • A $10m guarantee put the Seminole Hard Rock Open on the map as a flagship tournament. The success of the event inspired the WPT to put the same guarantee on its event at the same venue to be held in April next year.
