Poker Podcast Reviews

After a one week hiatus I’m back to highlight some of the top shows in another busy week of poker podcasts. At the top of the list this week is The Kenna James Hour. Kenna’s guest this week is “Fast Eddie” Felson, the real life character on which the movies The Hustler and The Color of Money were based.

Fast Eddie and Kenna talk about pool, poker and get in depth into The Hustler. If you’re a fan of the movie you won’t want to miss this interview. Fast Eddie gives his insights into his friend Paul Newman and talks about the differences between hustling pool and hustling poker. First watch the movie then listen to the interview: It’s fascinating.

Another good listen this week is what seems to be the final episode of Hey Ball—at least for now. Joe and Chuck come back to put a bow on their popular podcast series: For their 80th episode they welcome in NoahSD to talk random topics. Though it is probably the longest Hey Ball episode, it seems to go by quickly.

As usual, it’s pretty light-hearted and poker is barely mentioned. If you’re a fan of the show you won’t want to miss the series finale. If you haven’t listened to the show before but think you might like this genre of podcast, all the past episodes (with descriptions) are available in the Pokerfuse Podcast Directory.

Once again I am recommending the 2+2 PokerCast. Their first guest is Will “The Thrill” Failla who if you remember also was a guest on Filthy Limper a few weeks back. Failla is a very open and charismatic personality in the poker world and he takes the listeners back into his history and shares some interesting poker stories.

The guys also bring in the aforementioned Deuces Cracked founder and fellow podcast host Joe Tall in to talk about the iGaming North American Conference. The future of online poker in the US was the main topic, so for those of you looking to hear some of the opinions and learn a little about the industry that interview will be of interest.

One of the shows that I wanted to listen to this week but didn’t get around to was DonkDown. Gavin Smith was a co-host this week. The show description indicates that there is some Full Tilt talk and Micon brings back an old Russ Hamilton prank.

That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other poker podcasts for my listening pleasure.
