The WSOP Montreal at Playground is set to make its return this November, following a record-breaking Main Event earlier this year.
The most recent edition, which took place from August 18 to September 2, set a remarkable milestone by breaking the record for the largest WSOP Circuit Main Event in terms of total prize pool.
The Main Event, featuring a buy-in of C$2,500, attracted 1,978 entries across three starting flights and generated a massive prize pool of C$4,450,500 (equivalent to over $3.2 million in USD). Hundreds of participants earned their seats online through qualifiers on GGPoker, available to those playing online poker in Canada, including those in Ontario.
Ultimately, it was Ontario’s Jacob Hobday who claimed victory. He secured the top prize of C$446,400 along with his second Circuit gold ring. Remarkably, Hobday gained entry to the Main Event by winning a C$75 satellite on GGPoker. His triumph not only awarded him the massive payout and gold ring but also a $5,000 package for the upcoming WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.
