After nearly a year on the market, sweepstakes poker site ClubWPT Gold released its first purely luck-based game, dubbed Poker Master. The game is available under the “Other Games” tab in the ClubWPT Gold app, and is the first game of this kind available on the platform.
Poker Master is entirely inspired by Texas Hold’em Poker, the most popular poker variant in the world, but much of the skill element has been removed from play, as betting opportunities are reduced to just one, and cards are shown face-up.
If you want some quick poker action that doesn’t require the full attention of your poker brain, Poker Master is the ideal game to try out.

How Does Poker Master Work?
In every round of Poker Master, the random number generator deals two hole cards to the game’s two characters, “Master” and “Shark.”
Once the hole cards are dealt, the player is given 15 seconds to make bets, as odds for both hands are clearly displayed. The player gets to bet on the Master or Shark winning the hand at the displayed odds, while all draws result in the bet being returned to the player.
Once the bets are placed, four community cards are displayed in the screen center, while the fifth card is dealt face down. The player is given an opportunity to peel the card, and the odds needed for the hand that’s “behind” to win.
Once all five community cards are displayed, all bets are paid out based on the displayed odds. For example, if you bet on Shark to win at 2.50 odds and bet 1 Chip, you will win exactly 2.50 SC in total, including your initial bet.
The Master vs Shark bets are settled in accordance with Texas Hold’em hand rankings, with hands ranked from high card to a royal flush.
Lucky Hit Bets Explained
On top of the basic Master vs Shark betting, Poker Master also offers a number of Lucky Hit bets, which you can make before the community cards are dealt.
The Lucky Hits betting area is made up of five options:
- High Card/One Pair
- Two Pair
- Three of a Kind/Straight/Flush
- Full House
- Four of a Kind/Straight Flush/Royal Flush
If you place a Lucky Hit bet, you are betting on the exact value of the winning hand. For example, if you bet on the High Card/One Pair option, you will win if the winning hand is a High Card or One Pair, but lose the bet in all other cases.
The odds for each Lucky Hit option change based on the hole cards dealt, but betting on the less frequent hands to win always yields a higher return than betting on hands like High Card and One Pair.
While Master vs Shark bets result in funds being returned in a case of a tie, the Lucky Hit bets are settled based on the hand value of the tie.
Players List
Clicking on the Players List button within the game will display the Players List, where players are ranked based on two distinct criteria.
The Richest Players list displays the players who have won the most Chips playing Poker Master. The Skillful Players list displays the players who have won their bets with the highest frequency.
In addition, the game also displays a running list of recent winners between the Master and Shark, allowing you to quickly see which side has been “running hotter” in recent hands.
It’s worth noting that both of these features are mainly aesthetic, and should not impact your overall betting strategy in the game.
