As of May 7, 2026, PokerStars Ontario will no longer be offering poker, casino, or sports betting on its current platform. The announcement came on the operator’s official X channel, giving all players in the province a heads-up.

The shutdown doesn’t mean it is an exit, though, as this is just a temporary situation ahead of the launch of the new and improved platform, PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario. The new brand, which represents a partnership between two online gaming giants, has been live in the US for over a month now, and the Ontario launch is just around the corner.

If you happen to have any funds on PokerStars Ontario, the good news is that there is no rush to withdraw. Although the platform is closing down its customer-facing services this week, you’ll be able to access your account and request a cashout until June 4. Those who miss that deadline will receive their funds via a paper check sent to their registered address.

Brief Pause Before a Big Comeback

Just like in the US states of Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, PokerStars is making a move to a new platform powered by FanDuel. To successfully complete this move and to comply with all regulatory requirements, it appears that the operator needs a brief period of inactivity.

This announcement also confirms what we could already assume: players’ existing accounts will not be migrated from the old site once FanDuel Poker Ontario goes live. Instead, PokerStars users will need to create new accounts, while those players with active FanDuel accounts will be able to use that information to log in to the new poker app and will just need to choose a screen name.

As of right now, there are no urgent actions required from Ontario online poker players. As mentioned, cashier access and withdrawals will remain available until June 4, but with no active products available on the site, there is no real reason to keep funds there.

When Will PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario Go Live?

While the operator revealed some important details about the process ahead, it is still unclear when exactly the new PokerStars on FanDuel will go live in Ontario.

All that we do know for certain is that there will be a “short transition period” during which there will be no games running on the old or the new platform. It is safe to assume that period won’t last longer than a month, but we could see FanDuel Poker going live in the province much sooner than that as well.

In the US, in the weeks leading up to the new site launch, PokerStars ran a special Founders Table promo, which allowed players to lock in their screen names ahead of the actual platform going live and provided access to some other perks like special freerolls.

We could see something similar happening in Ontario over the coming days and weeks, so if you are interested in keeping your current poker alias, you should keep your eyes peeled.

Ontario players can also look forward to new software, with the benefit that many of the early-day quirks and issues have already been dealt with, so presumably it will be an even smoother experience than that in the US.

Beyond this, there could be some tournament series running right off the bat, similar to Ignite Series, which brought heaps of value to players in MI, NJ, and PA. PokerStars on FanDuel Ontario will be looking to make a big entrance, and that usually leads to some very nice benefits for the players, especially those who join the action early on.
