There is an abundance of resources for players of all levels looking to improve their No Limit Hold’em skill. Lately, there’s been a rise in training sites offering PLO content, too. However, if you’re looking for the best poker training sites featuring mixed game content, your options are quite limited.

There are currently no training sites fully devoted to mixed games, which is expected, considering this is still a niche segment. Luckily, though, some of the top platforms do offer mixed game learning materials, albeit to different degrees.

Whether you’re a mixed game beginner or someone with a fair bit of experience and looking to take your understanding of lesser-known poker variants to a new level, this quick guide should help you find some options that fit the bill.

Mixed Games Beginners Course by BBZ Poker

Although it doesn’t get that much attention, BBZ Poker actually has a very solid mixed games bundle that’s aimed primarily at beginners, powered by Mason “pyefacepoker” Pye and Tobias “Senkel92” Leknes.

The bundle contains 19 hours’ worth of material, split across nine chapters and 46 individual videos. It covers all the most popular mixed variants, including Razz, 7-Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo, Omaha Hi-Lo, 2-7 Single and Triple Draw, and Badugi.

Run It Once Mixed Game Learning Path for Elite Members

Although it is not a standalone course, Run It Once offers a fair amount of mixed game training materials through one of its learning paths. The videos contained inside this path were created by George Danzer and Christopher George, both Elite coaches for the site, which means you’ll have to pay the elite membership price to access them (around $200/month).

Videos are divided according to specific games and topics, such as:

  • Cash
  • MTTs
  • Theory
  • Razz
  • Stud
  • PLO8
  • 2-7 Single & Triple Draw
  • Limit Hold’em

However, there is quite a bit of variety in terms of what you’ll find inside any specific chapter. Some games are covered in more detail, while others feature only a few videos and focus on one or two specific topics, like blind vs. blind play, playing big pairs in Stud, etc.

The content is high-level and high quality, but it’s not as beginner-friendly. Run It Once Mixed Game learning path is geared more toward those players who already have some experience and are now looking to improve specific aspects of their play across different variations.

This could be a good option after you complete a beginner’s course and get some experience under your belt. At that point, you should have a decent understanding of different games’ fundamentals and areas that you may struggle with, and this learning path could significantly help with those areas.

Upswing Poker’s High-Level Mixed Game Course

Sitting in a category entirely of its own is Upswing Poker’s Mixed Game Mastery. Created by Jake Abdalla, a long-time mixed crusher, this course is primarily for players who already have decent skills and solid experience and are looking to compete with the best of the best.

The pricing reflects this fact, though, as you’ll have to pay $999 to get lifetime access to this course.

While Abdalla does spend a bit of time covering the basics of each of these games, the course focuses primarily on advanced strategies that are required to be a profitable mixed game player at an elite level.

As a beginner, you certainly don’t need to dish out a grand for this course. It is a good one, but you can get all the basic knowledge you need from other options, and, if and when you get to the level where you compete against the best, Aballa’s Mixed Game Mastery will be there for you.

Beyond these three mixed game training options, you can also find some free resources to help you improve your understanding of mixed games.

Doing this will require some research, but some things worth checking out are:

  • Any streams of mixed game tournaments (like WSOP coverage from previous years)
  • Daniel Negreanu’s vlogs — some of them talk about strategies for games like Stud, Razz or 2-7
  • Free YouTube training videos, like Alex Livingston’s free webinar on Omaha 8
