BetMGM has announced that it will expand further into the Capital Region by making its mobile sports betting app available at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals.

The expansion is part of an exclusive, multi-year partnership the company formed with the team in January and will make BetMGM the only sports betting app available at the stadium.

While the BetMGM app is currently available for download throughout the District of Columbia, local restrictions require users to be within a two-block radius of Nationals Park in order to successfully place mobile wagers. The app will eventually connect to the retail BetMGM Sportsbook scheduled to open later this year.

The announcement marks BetMGM’s latest foray into the District of Columbia-Maryland-Virginia region, also known as the DMV. One of BetMGM’s two gaming partners, MGM Resorts International, is in line to receive a five-year license from Maryland when the state launches sports betting later this year.

While BetMGM is one of seven legal sportsbooks currently operating in neighboring Virginia, CEO Adam Greenblatt remarked that the company’s launch in DC “sets the stage for our plans to expand BetMGM within the region, as we’ve already seen great success in Virginia.”

Jorge Perez, president and COO for MGM National Harbor, said the deal between BetMGM and the Nationals “becomes the first of many offerings we are developing to seamlessly connect sports and entertainment across the DMV, providing fans with unique opportunities to interact with our world-class resort and casino.”

Nationals Park is about seven miles up the Potomac River from MGM National Harbor, and the app will be integrated with MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards program, which will allow Nationals fans the opportunity to redeem their winnings for experiences at MGM Resorts’ properties—including MGM National Harbor.

The Nationals aren’t the only team to form a sports betting partnership with BetMGM. The company has partnerships with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans, as well as the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers.

The company is the official gaming partner to the MLB, the NBA and the NHL, and has also signed the NHL’s Wayne Gretzky and the NFL’s Barry Sanders to serve as its brand ambassadors.

Besides DC, BetMGM’s sportsbook is currently live in 10 states: Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Its online casino is live in half a dozen states, including Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The company operates online poker rooms in three states—BetMGM Michigan, BetMGM NJ and BetMGM PA—on a platform hosted by the partypoker US network.

BetMGM is the exclusive sports betting division of MGM, offering sports betting and gaming both online and in MGM casinos. BetMGM offers online gaming through its own brand and its sister brands Borgata Online, Party Casino and partypoker.
