Payment processor Skrill has gone live with its first New Jersey licensed clients. “We have signed contracts with many more and expect to see many more sites rolled out over the coming weeks.”

After being awarded the necessary approval by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement three weeks ago, payment processor Skrill has gone live with its first New Jersey-licensed clients.

Tropicana and Virgin are both today live with Skrill for deposits and withdrawals from their cashier. PartyPoker NJ is expected to add Skrill as a cashier option by the end of the day.

“We have signed contracts with many more and expect to see many more sites rolled out over the coming weeks,” Joe Hall, Vice-President of Skrill USA, told pokerfuse.

As players struggle to make deposits with traditional payment options in the nascent regulated market, Skrill sees the opportunity in filling the void. Bank of America, PayPal and Wells Fargo have each publicly stated that they will not be processing transactions for the newly legal gambling sites; players report a low success rate with Visa and Mastercard deposits. Skrill offers instant deposits to multiple operators once funds are loaded into the customer’s main wallet.

Skrill recently launched a new mobile app available on Android and iOS. The app allows customers to check their Skrill balances, receive notifications when money is received, send money and request withdrawals.

Six poker operators have been given the green light to open up real money gaming in New Jersey following a five-day soft launch period.
