Martin Shapiro, poker player and author of the 80-page draft online poker bill “Internet Wagering Citizens Protection Act,” has completed his effort, and now seeks players to mail it in to local representatives.
We have been following Shapiro’s (aka PokerXanadu’s) efforts closely here on pokerfuse. His goal was to create a realistic bill that contained the necessary restrictions that actually make its passage possible.
“Every bill that has been introduced to Congress to date has been an incomplete bill and which isn’t passable because it is partisan to a limited number of vested interests,” he told us back in July. The bill legalizes online poker but restricts other forms of online gambling.
Now that the bill is complete, he has posted on 2+2 seeking volunteers in key states to print out the bill and mail it in to their local senators. In particular, local residents of Nevada, Texas, New York, Ohio, Virginia, California and Massachusetts are sought.
