  • 200+ players have already qualified online for the main event via GGPoker.
  • Registration is limited and only open in-person for Ontario players and by phone for others.
  • Players have lots of chances to qualify this weekend on WSOP Ontario and GGPoker Canada

This one will hit a bit differently because I finally get to play in front of a hometown crowd … I want to see all the Toronto poker fans come out. With the inaugural WSOPC Toronto event quickly approaching, the interest in the seats for all eight ring events is growing by the day. Limited seating will end up costing some players a chance to play in this historic poker festival.

With registration for all events only open in-person for Ontario players — and by telephone for those visiting from outside of the province — getting a seat in time before events fill up presents a challenge. The numbers of registered players are quickly approaching their cap: Most events have limits of just 405 players; two have caps of just 270.

The $2,000 WSOPC Toronto Main Event features three Day 1 flights with 405 seats available in each flight, but will also be the one that most players will be interested in playing.

One sure way to book a seat for the Main Event is by winning it through GGPoker qualifiers. A total of 208 players have already done exactly that, and quite a few more will do over the coming days.

The WSOP Toronto Main Event will kick-off on March 28, and there is still time for both players in Ontario and in other Canadian provinces to win their seats in online satellites and grab a guaranteed seat in one of the three starting flights. Find out how below.

WSOPC Toronto Main Event Satellites Still Running

The demand for seats in the first-ever WSOPC Toronto has exceeded expectations, with registration lines at the Great Canadian Resort already packed two full weeks before the start of the Main Event. Meanwhile, the interest in online qualifiers has already exceeded expectations.

GG told pokerfuse that 208 players have already secured their seats in the WSOP Toronto Main Event via online qualifiers. The majority of those have won their seats on GGPoker Ontario, but several have also been awarded via the international GGPoker platform, which is operating qualifers exclusively to Canadian players in other provinces.

In the coming days, a number of additional Mega Satellites will be played, each awarding packages with Main Event seats and travel expenses covered.

Here is a look at the satellites you can play in the following days at GGPoker ON and GGPoker:

  • March 15: $50 Mega Satellite at GGPoker ON — 10 Seats Gtd
  • March 16: $10 Mega Satellite at GGPoker ON — 1 Seat Gtd
  • March 17: $50 Mega Satellite at GGPoker ON — 10 Seats Gtd
  • March 18: $50 Mega Satellite at GGPoker ON — 10 Seats Gtd
  • March 18: $100 Mega Satellite at GGPoker — 1 Seat Gtd

The Mega Satellites will run each of the following four days at GGPoker Ontario, with $1 and $10 Step Satellites also available to win your spot in the $50 Mega Satellites.

If you are looking to win a seat from outside of Ontario, your last chance to do so will be on March 18, with plenty of feeder satellites also available into the $100 Mega Satellite that will award at least one seat for the Main Event.

It is worth noting that, regardless of the guaranteed number of seats, the interest in these qualifiers is quite high, and each Mega Satellite may end up awarding quite a few seats over the guaranteed number, one of which could easily be yours.

Each package awards the winner the full CAD $2000 entry to the WSOP Toronto Main Event plus $500 to help cover travel, deposited directly into your GGPoker account.

Rub Shoulders with Daniel Negreanu at WSOPC Toronto

The first WSOPC event in the capital of Ontario is coming up, and it may be your best opportunity to play with GGPoker ambassadors and poker legends such as Daniel Negreanu himself.

Negreanu was quick to announce he would be playing the Main Event as soon as it was announced, not hiding his excitement to play poker on home turf and go after his career-second WSOPC ring.

“Having competed in several WSOP Circuit events, the logistics of the event and the games don’t change, but this one will hit a bit differently because I finally get to play in front of a hometown crowd,” he told pokerfuse. “I want to see all the Toronto poker fans come out — it will be a fun experience, and I’m always happy to meet the community.”

With Negreanu guaranteed to be in the crowd and the number of players in the event limited, this could be a great opportunity for all the Toronto locals to come out and meet Canada’s greatest poker player on home turf.

The registration line is still open and there are seats available, but you may have to wait in line for quite some time to catch one.

On the other hand, the online qualifiers at GGPoker Ontario are also open, and winning a seat there guarantees you will have a seat in one of the three starting flights of the first-ever WSOPC Woodbine event.
