The World Series of Poker is returning to Los Angeles in May for its final WSOP Circuit Stop of the current season and its exclusive partner GGPoker is looking to send players off for some fun in the City of Angels.
Starting on April 12 and running until the end of the month, international players on the GGPoker app will have satellites with buy-ins starting for as low as $2.50. Not only is GGPoker offering these opportunities on its global platform, but it is also hosting online qualifiers in its GGPoker Ontario segregated room for just CAD $3 during the same time.
These online qualifiers allow players to secure a spot in the highly anticipated WSOPC-LA Main Event, boasting a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million for a buy-in of $1700.
The million-guaranteed event is scheduled to take place from May 16 to 20 at The Commerce Casino & Hotel, situated in the heart of Los Angeles.
Almost a dozen players have already won their Main Event seats, with the majority of them earning their spots through the GG/WSOP Ontario platform.
The qualifiers operate on a steps-based system, running around the clock, and kick off with a modest $2.50 (CAD $3) buy-in. Progressing from the first step leads players to Step 2, requiring a buy-in of $25 (CAD $30). Advancement to the final qualifier, priced at $200 (CAD $250), guarantees a seat to the Main Event valued at $1700 (CAD $2300). Alternatively, players can opt to skip the initial two steps and directly enter the final stage.
Winning a seat online automatically registers players for Day 1A of the Main Event.
Each platform awards two seats daily. It is important to note that winning a seat only grants entry to the Main Event and players are responsible for arranging their own travel accommodations.

Is It Worth Qualifying?
With GGPoker offering only seats and the event coinciding just days before the start of the WSOP 2024 live series, one might wonder if participating in the qualifiers is worthwhile.
The answer? Well, it depends.
One big reason to consider entering the qualifiers is the concurrent hosting of the prestigious Tournament of Champions (TOC) at the same venue from May 22 to 24. This tournament features $1 million in guaranteed prize money and requires no entry fee. However, participation is limited to those who have clinched gold ring events from live or online circuit events, as well as online or live bracelets.
Currently, over 1000 players qualify for this freeroll, with a sizable portion expected to offer softer competition. As many of these players will also be participating in the TOC, other WSOP Circuit events are likely to see a similar trend of softer competition.
Beyond TOC and the Main Event, the event schedule itself presents a compelling reason to journey to play poker in California. With $1.75 million in guaranteed prizes and 18 ring events, winning any of these events grants eligibility for TOC — a further incentive to consider participating in the qualifiers.
For those hailing from Ontario, Canada, traveling to Los Angeles may not be prohibitively expensive.
However, the decision ultimately hinges on your location and willingness to invest in travel and lodging. Given Los Angeles’ proximity to Las Vegas, if you are already contemplating attending the WSOP there, adding the WSOPC LA event to your plans could be a consideration.
