The Bounty Series has now joined the ranks of staple events powered by the operator like Micro Thunder Series and Eagle Cup, with its third edition featuring the largest prize pool to date and the Main Event offering SC 50,000 more than the previous two.
Bounty tournaments, or knockout events, as they are also known in poker circles, have seen a huge surge in popularity in recent years. Combining traditional prizes with prizes for each successful knockout, these tournaments offer an additional layer of excitement and dynamic, making them interesting to all kinds of player looking for an MTT experience different from the traditional one.
Global Poker picked up on the trend mid-2020, adding three types of bounty tournaments to their schedule. Shortly after, in October, their very first Bounty Series took place on the site, offering SC 500,000 in prizes, SC of which was reserved for the Main Event.
Global Poker: Bounty Series History
|Dates||Series||Events||Total GTD||Main Event GTD|
|October 4 – 11, 2020||Bounty Series I||66 (33+33)||SC 500,000||SC 100,000|
|March 14 – 21, 2021||Bounty Series II||88 (44+44)||SC 600,000||SC 100,000|
|October 11 – 17, 2021||Bounty Series III||88 (44+44)||SC 680,000||SC 150,000|
The operator was back at it earlier this year with its Bounty Series II, which saw the overall prize pool bumped to SC 600,000 and the number of events increasing from 33 to 44. The Main Event still kept the SC 100,000 guarantee.
For this third iteration, though, Global Poker has decided to go all out, increasing the overall guarantee to SC 680,000 and making the Main Event SC 150,000 guaranteed, with the buy-in of SC 99.
Players running deep in the Main Event will also receive prizes such as hoodies, T-shirts, caps, and Global Poker pins, depending on their finishing positions in the tournament.
It is worth noting that the Main Event will be played in the progressive knockout (PKO) format. This means that half of each player’s bounty is added to the eliminating player’s bankroll, while the other half is added on top of their own bounty. The more players someone knocks out during the tournament, the more valuable their own bounty becomes, making them a valuable target to gun for.
With a big guarantee and the PKO dynamics, the Global Poker Bounty Series III Main Event promises a lot of exciting action. There are a few more tournaments running on Sunday (October 17), including the special Crazy Pineapple event, so those who get eliminated from the big one will still be able to look for a consolation prize in several side events with very respectable guarantees.
