The first online MTT series hosted by WPT Global is now underway, with the full schedule of tournaments readily available. Running until August 22, the Summer Festival offers some incredibly valuable action. We brought out our magnifying glass and took a closer look at the schedule to see where players could find the best value.

Not One, But Two Million Dollar Events
We cannot talk about the best MTTs offered during the WPTG Summer Festival without highlighting the two biggest tournaments on the docket. Each event features a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000 and promises incredible value.
$1 For $1 Million
The biggest surprise of the series is certainly the $1 event with a $1,000,000 guarantee. This might be the absolute boldest endeavor that any poker operator has ever tried, and it will be interesting to see how many entrants it attracts.
Two initial flights take place every Sunday and Wednesday until August 22, when all remaining players come together to play for the winner. Interestingly, every Day 1 flight is capped at 5,000 entries, so the tournament is guaranteed to have a massive overlay. It is also worth noting that the first few flights did not attract anywhere near the cap either.
The top 13% of the field from each starting flight advances to Day 2, and you can play as many of them as you like during the qualification period. Your best stack will be carried forward if you qualify more than once.
$1,000,000 Main Event
The second $1,000,000 GTD tournament on the docket is the $330 Main Event. While the buy-in is quite steep, this one still has loads of value.
Starting flights will commence on August 12 and run every day for ten days. The top 20% of the players from each Day 1 will move on to Day 2, scheduled to take place on August 21.
Day 2 will play down to the 8-handed final table. Once the final table is formed, the play will stop for the day, and the finalists will reconvene on August 22 to play down to the winner.
$100,000 Mini Main Event
The $33 Mini Main Event offers excellent value for a very affordable buy-in if you do not have a big bankroll. The tournament features a guarantee of $100,000, and there is likely to be some overlay, making it even more valuable.
Starting flights will commence on August 12 and run every day until August 21, when the final day will take place, and the tournament will play down to the winner. You can enter as many Day 1s as you like, and the best-stack-forward policy will apply.
Quality Bounty Action
Bounty tournaments have grown in popularity over the recent years and have started to dominate the online poker space. While WPT Global offers more variety in their first MTT series, there is more than enough bounty action to keep the fans of this format happy.
- $110 Short Deck Bounty Championship (Aug 1 — 7) – $100K GTD
- $220 Summer Progressive Bounties Championship (Aug 8 — 14) — 300K GTD
- $11 Mini Summer Progressive Bounties (Aug 8 — 14) — 20K GTD
The Short Deck event is a particularly exciting one. Players who enjoy this particular format do not get many opportunities to play events with big guarantees, so this will be a great opportunity. Short Deck Hold 'em seems quite popular at WPT Global, so we expect a decent number of entrants, albeit there will likely be an overlay.
A Couple of PLO Championships
The operator is also hosting two Pot-Limit Omaha events, a regular and a mini one, so all players interested in the growingly popular format can get involved.
Both occur during the first week of August, with the final day of action set for August 7. Buy-ins are $220 and $22, with prize pool guarantees of $150,000 and $20,000.
Good Variety of One-Day Events
If you do not have the time to participate in two-day events or these types of tournaments do not sit right with you, the good news is that WPT Global also features a good selection of one-day tournaments throughout the Summer Festival in all three formats.
While the guarantees on these are not as big as with multi-flight events, they are worth checking out, depending on your particular preference.
