PokerStars' MicroMillions Main Event Smashes Guarantee PokerStars' MicroMillions Main Event Smashes Guarantee

MicroMillions from PokerStars is the series for the rest of us. While many online poker series are geared at deeper bankrolls with buy-ins starting at $50 and going up from there, MicroMillions flipped that on its head, putting the maximum buy-in for the series at $55, and providing plenty of low-stakes action down to just $1.10 to get into the game.

With over 200 games, MicroMillions was chock-full of exciting low-stakes poker action, ranging from $1.10 to $55, with guarantees as high as $500k. Running from July 2 — 16, 2023, the low-roller series had more than $4 million in total guarantees and played nearly every style of poker known to man.

Not only was the Main Event the biggest prize pool of the series, but it also took the title for the biggest field size as well, with almost 28k entries building the prize pool to almost $560k, putting it more than 11% above the $500k guarantee. Two other games in the latter half of the series saw five-figure field sizes, and both events figured in the biggest prize pools list.

MicroMillions Blows Past Expectations

With the massive two-week online festival now complete, the results were clearly something PokerStars will be happy with. There were many big results as the series drew to a close, with the Main Event coming out on top in terms of prizes and field sizes.

A total of 27,863 entries were recorded for the $500k guaranteed Main Event, and those entries combined for prizes totaling $557,260. That put the final prize pool for the Main at 11.45% above the guarantee, but that was not the best increase on the guarantee by a long shot.

The $55 High Roller event ended up nearly 20% over its promise, and there were several games in the 40% range over the final week of play, but three tournaments stood out from the endgame of the schedule.

At least in the final week of the series, the top performer in terms of prize pool growth was The Friday Special on Jul 14. The $11 game was a PKO format that saw just shy of 10,000 entries for a total prize pool of just under $100k. With a guarantee of just $60k, that meant the final prizes on the Friday Special ended up 61.10% above the pre-series promise.

Two other games did better than 50% extra in prizes during the final week of play. The Monday and Wednesday Specials both got more than $90k on their $60k guarantees. The Specials ruled the roost in the final week with the top six spots in terms of increase on guarantee going to Special games on the various days. Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday all scored prize pools at least 40% above their promised prizes.
