Jackpot sit and go tournaments have been one of the most popular online poker formats for years. No major poker site does not have its own version of these games, and now WPT Global has joined the party but upped the antes.
A couple of days ago, Alex Scott, the General Manager at WPT Global, announced on his Twitter the introduction of Global Spins. These games follow the well-established routine of jackpot sit and go games, but with an additional progressive element thrown into the mix.
So, what is Global Spins all about? How do these games differ from what is already out there? How do they improve the players’ experience at WPT Global?

Building on a Familiar Model
The main allure of Jackpot Sit and Go’s is the potential these games have to produce massive returns on a single buy-in. Global Spins follows this model closely, featuring random multipliers between 2x and 6000x the buy-in.
The buy-ins range from $1 to $250, so all WPT Global players can find a game that fits their bankroll. As is usual, each game starts as soon as there are three players seated at the table. Blinds increase every three hands, so the action is guaranteed to be fast and furious.
Starting stacks vary depending on the prize multiplier, so games will bigger multipliers will offer a bit more maneuvering space. That said, Global Spins are designed to last under five minutes and are perfect for players who want to play many games quickly.

Upping the Ante With a Progressive Jackpot
While the new game type at WPT Global features many familiar aspects, it also introduces a novelty that we have not seen before in these types. In addition to the standard prize multiplier, Global Spins also features a progressive jackpot.
At the start of every game, 1% of each buy-in is deducted and added to the progressive jackpot pool. The progressive pool continues to grow with every game until the biggest multiplier of 6000x is triggered at a certain stake level.
When this happens, in addition to the maximum regular prize, the tournament winner will receive the full amount of the jackpot accumulated up to that point for that stake level.
Global Spins is raked at 7%, and the 1% on top of that certainly increases the variance of these games, especially given their hyper-turbo structure. On the other hand, the constantly growing jackpot adds to their allure, especially from the perspective of recreational players.
The maximum prize multiplier can take a while to get triggered, as the probability of this happening is just 2 in 1,000,000. So, we can expect to see some really big progressives along the way, which will certainly help attract more players to the app.
If you want to try these games, Global Spins is already available in the WPT Global lobby, so head on over and start spinning!
