PokerStars Announces 3rd Estrellas Poker Tour Ahead of Spanish Regulation

PokerStars announced on Tuesday the schedule for next year’s Estrellas Poker Tour, a brick and mortar poker tour that hosts multiple events in Spain throughout the year.

There were some concerns that the tour, now entering its third season, may be cut ahead of new Spanish online gaming regulations still expected to come into force in January 2012. The regulation would segregate the player pool, although players internationally would be permitted to register on dot.es sites. The law will be one of the more permissive in a new wave of European gambling regulation: the latest draft, penned in September, relaxed the restrictions on deposit limits, stakes and stack sizes.

Season 3 of the poker tour consists of five stops, including a start in Madrid in January, moving to Ibiza in May, San Sebastian in July and finishing in Barcelona in August. A stop in April is still to be confirmed. Each involves a €1k main event along with various side events.
