Two Ex Utah Attorneys General Arrested for Bribery
Shurtleff and Swallow allegedly received cash donations from man linked to processing of online poker transactions.
- Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow, both former Attorneys General of Utah have been arrested and charged with multiple offences including bribery.
- The two are connected to Jeremy Johnson, who together with Chad Elie founded Elite Debit, the payment processing company linked to the SunFirst Bank at the centre of the Black Friday indictments.
Americas Cardroom to Host $1 Million Guaranteed “Winning Millions” Tournament
Event billed as first seven-figure online event for US players in years.
- Americas Cardroom, the flagship poker site for the Winning Poker Network (WPN), has announced that it will host a $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament on Sunday, December 14.
- The event will award a minimum of $200,000 to the winner.
- Promoted as the first seven-figure guaranteed event on a US-friendly site in years, the $540 buy-in “Winning Millions” relies on a number of daily feeder tournaments from now through early December.
High Stakes Poker Player Paul Phua Arrested in Las Vegas in Connection with Illegal Sports Betting Ring
Former One Drop Entrant charged, puts up $50 million in collateral while under house arrest.
- Multi-millionaire Malaysian businessman and 2012 Big One for One Drop contestant Paul Phua was arrested this past weekend in Vegas by the FBI and charged with illegally operating a gambling business that took bets on the World Cup at Caesars Palace.
- The FBI believes Phua to be “a high-ranking member” of a Hong Kong based global criminal organization known as the 14K Triad.
