If you’re looking to get involved with some live tournaments but don’t quite have a budget for it, we have some good news to share. 888poker has just launched its brand new Global League, giving all players a chance to qualify for 888poker LIVE events via a monthly league featuring freerolls and low buy-in online tournaments.
Each leg of the league comprises four main tournaments, and the overall winner receives a package to an 888poker LIVE event of their choice, covering all expenses.
For a while now, the operator has been offering some of the most affordable live festivals around, targeting primarily casual players. Now, they are giving even more players a chance to get involved, as even those on very limited bankrolls will have a fair shot to win full packages, tournament entries, and more.
Heaps of Prizes up for Grabs
The new Global League features a monthly format with four main monthly tournaments taking place on Sundays. These tournaments have a buy-in of $5.5, a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000 each, and award points for the monthly leaderboard.
Points are calculated based on the number of participants. For example, in a tournament with 200 players, the winner will receive 200 points, the runner-up will get 199 points, etc., all the way down to the first player to bust, who will receive only a single point.
As is usually the case with league formats, there are ways to pick up additional points. All players who get involved in all four monthly tournaments will get an extra 10 points added to the overall score, and 888poker will also hold a monthly draw for its Instagram followers, where 50 lucky winners will receive 50 points each.
Once all four tournaments are completed, winners will be determined based on the total point score, and the top 20 finishers will receive the following rewards:
- 1st place: Full package to a live event of their choice
- Runner-up: Live event entry
- 3rd place: A ticket for an online Main Event (up to $250)
- 4th place: A 30-minute one-on-one session with one of 888poker ambassadors
- 5th-10th: $109 ticket
- 11th-20th: 888poker merch pack (cards, backpack, hat)
Get Involved for Free
While the main weekly events are quite affordable at just $5.50 a piece, and more than worth it, with all the additional prizes up for grabs, 888poker is also offering opportunities to get involved at no cost whatsoever.
Every week, there will be three freeroll tournaments, taking place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The only condition to play in these is to follow 888poker on Instagram and get a password that will be delivered ahead of each tournament via DM.
Each freeroll will award entries to the next Sunday main tournament to the top 50 finishers, so there are 150 spots in total up for grabs every week. This means that absolutely anyone can get in on the action and have a real shot at traveling to one of the 888poker LIVE spots.
Of course, if you do manage to finish high in one of the Sunday events, you’ll also pick up some cash, which will allow you to buy in directly into the remaining tournaments. That said, if you enjoy playing freerolls, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from getting involved, regardless of what your bankroll looks like.
