PokerStars has announced the debut of PokerStars Open Maryland that takes place October 19 to 26 at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland.
The eight-day live poker festival will feature a $1,100 PokerStars Open Main Event that takes place at the end of the series between October 22 to 26 and features a $300,000 guarantee and five starting flights. The entire schedule has yet to be released but highlights include a new tournament, which is a single-day mystery bounty tournament with a sports betting twist called the Sunday Sweat, a $300 Women’s Event, and a $2,200 High Roller.
It is the first time a PokerStars Live event has run under the “Open” brand in Maryland. In 2024, PokerStars collaborated with Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland to run the Maryland State Poker Championship.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the PokerStars Open experience to Maryland for the very first time,” said RJ Peterson, Senior Director of Marketing PokerStars North America via press release. “This festival represents a natural step forward in our partnership with Live! Casino & Hotel and reflects our ongoing commitment to making great poker more accessible, more fun, and more rewarding for players across the region.”
2025 also marked the debut of the PokerStars Philadelphia Open which ran earlier this year in between April 21 — 27 at the Live! Casino & Hotel in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The festival was highlighted by a $500k guaranteed Main Event, which is slightly bigger than what is offered in Maryland in October.
Continuing with the company’s emphasis on Women in Poker, the PokerStars Open brand is once again featuring a $300 Women’s Event, mirroring the buy-in of the women-only event that ran earlier this year at PokerStars Open Philadelphia.
Other highlights include:
- $400 PokerStars Open Mystery Bounty Cup
- $2,200 PokerStars Open High Roller
- $300 PLO Event
- $300 Women’s Event
- $400 Sunday Sweat Mystery Bounty
Players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ontario can qualify online at PokerStars from August 18. Live satellites will be available at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland this Fall.
“PokerStars is one of the most respected names in the poker industry, and we’re excited to welcome them back to Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland,” said Christopher Angelo, Director of Poker at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland in the same press release. “This partnership adds to our growing tournament portfolio and gives players the opportunity to experience the PokerStars brand right here at Live!”
PokerStars Open Maryland takes place just before the the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) at Resorts World, Las Vegas running November 3 to 12. The schedule features 48 tournaments (including Main Event qualifiers). Buy-ins for non-satellite events are starting at $360, while the most expensive will be the $50,000 Super High Roller.
As in previous years, the popular poker show, The Big Game on Tour, is expected to take place at the 2025 NAPT, though no official announcement has been made.
