The penultimate stop of the 2026 888poker LIVE schedule is in the books, and Alvaro Murciano is the man taking home the best memories and a fair bit of extra cash.

The Spaniard was the last man standing in the Barcelona Main Event, outlasting the field of 350 entries and pocketing €50,000 for his impressive run. Winning a big tournament is always sweet, but the victory is that much sweeter for Murciano, who finished as runner-up in Madrid last year, falling at the hands of 888poker ambassador Ian Simpson.

This time around, Murciano was able to close the deal and pick up the trophy after a very short heads-up battle. He started the final skirmish with a massive chip lead and his last opponent, German Zafra, only lasted a few hands.

Players Show Up in Force Once More

It came as no surprise, but it was still nice to see that Barcelona has once more justified its reputation as one of the favorite poker destinations in Europe.

The 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event ended up attracting 350 entries, which was a bit of a drop compared to last year, but still a very respectable number that resulted in a prize pool of €263,424.

888poker ambassadors put in some valiant efforts once more, with all of them making it to Day 2. A couple of them made it past the bubble, but it was Luis Ramos carrying the operator’s flag all the way to the final table.

When the final nine came back to play it down to the winner, Alvaro Murciano was a significant chip leader over the field and he pretty much controlled the action from start to finish. He kept applying pressure, using his big stack the right way, and sent a few players to the rail along the way.

888poker’s own Luis Ramos gave it his all, but he eventually fell in third place when his A4 couldn’t hold up against Murciano’s K4. Not one, but two kings appeared on the flop to seal the deal.

With that, the stage was set for the final skirmish to begin and the Spaniard was firmly in the driver’s seat, with a 12:1 chip lead over his compatriot German Zafra. Zafra tried to find his way back into the match with an early bluff that didn’t get through, and some ten minutes later, Murciano picked up the last of Zafra’s chips when his K9 held up against his opponent’s Q9.

With the final river card hitting the felt, Alvaro Murciano wrapped it up, achieving redemption for his second-place finish in Madrid and adding €50,000 to his career earnings.

All Eyes on London

888poker LIVE will be taking a short break over the summer, but there is still one more festival to look forward to. In October, the operator will be visiting London for the final stop on its 2026 calendar.

For the next few weeks, the eyes of the poker world will be fixated on the 2026 World Series of Poker that kicks off tomorrow in Las Vegas. But once the Vegas fever is over, it will be back to business as usual, looking for poker festivals in Europe and beyond to stay in action. And 888poker LIVE is always the one to look out for.

As always, in the weeks leading up to the event, there will be online qualifiers running at 888poker, giving you an opportunity to punch your ticket to London early on and possibly at a serious discount.
