The World Series of Poker is rolling out some big changes aimed at offering players an enhanced experience during live events and providing them with resources to improve their game.
To accomplish this goal, the WSOP is introducing two new products/services: the WSOP+ membership and the WSOP Academy. While the Academy is a standalone app that’s available for free, there is a significant overlap with the new membership system.
Together, these two aim to provide players with a host of benefits, from the WSOP store discounts to the Plus Lounge access to advanced training features in the WSOP Academy app.
- Up to $100 in free play with first deposit
- Top-quality software
- Compete for WSOP bracelets & rings
WSOP+ Membership: Quality Benefits at a Discount
The new WSOP+ membership program comes with three tiers. Just to clear the air, this is a new product that’s not to be confused with the WSOP Live app, which, when it was first launched, was also named WSOP+.
As mentioned, there are three membership tiers available. The first one is completely free, and it is automatically available to everyone with a GG Pass account. Even with the free membership, you’ll have access to many features of the new WSOP Academy.
The WSOP+ Basic membership comes at the cost of $9.99/month and, in addition to all the perks included in the free package, it also offers access to additional challenges in WSOP Academy, 5% discount at the WSOP store, and access to the Plus Lounge once per day.
If you splurge out for the WSOP+ Premium package, which costs $49.99 a month, you’ll get unlimited access to the Premium Lounge, full access to all the features in WSOP Academy with no restrictions, as well as special merchandise at the WSOP Store.
Different membership levels also unlock special features and aspects of ClubGG.

WSOP Academy — The Next Generation of Poker Training
The launch of WSOP Academy is certainly the most interesting aspect of these latest developments. The World Series of Poker has launched a standalone app, designed to help players learn the game from the ground up, with a big focus on gamification.
The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
WSOP Academy is designed primarily for players new to the game. Once you download the app, you can log in with your GG Pass account, and you’ll start by taking a short quiz designed to evaluate your “Poker IQ.” Questions represent a mix of basic rules, math challenges, and hand play-throughs.
Once you complete the initial quiz, you’ll proceed to the Learning Path section, which contains numerous units, starting with very basic ones (what is poker, rules, etc.) and progressing to more complex topics, such as preflop hand selection, flop strategy, turn decisions, and finding exploits. There are 10 units in total, each containing several stages that you go through by answering questions posed by an animated avatar of GGPoker’s main ambassador, Daniel Negreanu.
As you complete units and challenges, you’ll earn XP points to level up and compete against other players using the app. You can always check how you stack up against the field in the Standings tab.
At the end of each level, you’ll face off against Finn for a challenge that you need to complete before moving on.
Unlock More WSOP Academy Features With WSOP+ Membership
While the WSOP Academy app is free to download and use, those paying for WSOP+ membership will get additional benefits.
For example, in the free version, you get to play ten “High Roller Table” hands a day. These are simulated poker scenarios, designed to help you put your newly acquired knowledge to the test. With WSOP+ Basic, that number increases to 50 hands per day, while the Premium membership allows you to play as many hands as you like every day.
The paid membership will also give you access to additional challenges beyond the first one. You’ll be able to face off against the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Maria Ho, and Michael Mizrachi, the 2025 WSOP Main Event champion. The WSOP+ Premium members will have a chance to take on Sharky, the ultimate challenger.
WSOP Academy is a fun and interesting product that aims to capture the attention of the next generation of poker players, making the learning process exciting, engaging, and competitive in its own right.
