Regional Events

PokerStars will hold regional events in the Mid-Atlantic for the first time. The events will be held at casinos in Philadelphia and Maryland as part of the NAPT. Main Event winners at each regional event will win a Gold Pass and entry to the NAPT Main Event in Las Vegas.

Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland will host the first regional event from July 31 through August 4. The second regional event runs from August 22 to September 8 and will be held at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. Both casinos are operated by The Cordish Companies.

Cordish also operates Live! Casino Pittsburgh. While there aren’t currently any events scheduled there, it’s possible PokerStars could add a third spot to the tour.

PokerStars said there would be six starting flights for the Maryland event but did not say how many would be offered in Philadelphia.

Other Promotions

Players can win Gold Passes directly at live and online events, but PokerStars is also offering a comprehensive Gold Pass package valued at $10,000. The package includes:

  • $5,300 for the buy-in at the NAPT Main Event in Las Vegas
  • $2,900 for hotel accommodations
  • $1,800 for travel and other expenses

PokerStars is also offering 100 opportunities to win an exclusive Gold Pass to participate in the NAPT.

The operator also said it was bringing back its popular Summer Stacks series for players in Michigan, New Jersey, Ontario, and Pennsylvania. Michigan and New Jersey players will compete against each other and share a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million, with the series running from June 14 through July 1.

Segregated series will be run in Pennsylvania and Ontario. Players in PA will compete for $1 million guaranteed, while players on PokerStars Ontario will compete for $900k CAD ($700k USD) guaranteed.

Each Main Event winner during the Summer Stacks will also receive a $10,000 USD ($14,000 CAD in Ontario) Gold Pass. The extra award will be given on June 30 and will be in addition to any first-place prize money from the Summer Stacks series.

NAPT Las Vegas Online Qualifiers

PokerStars is running different online qualifiers in the US and in Ontario, giving players many chances to secure their seat for the November event.

Path to NAPT

The Path to NAPT represents a way for all players at PokerStars US and PokerStars ON interested in getting involved to do so and win a seat in the Las Vegas Main Event.

This is a four-step qualifying route, with the first step being a $0.50 Spin & Go, where you can win entries into other steps or even an NAPT Las Vegas Gold Pass straight away (although the odds of the latter are just 0.0001%).

Step 2 of the Path to NAPT is a $1.50 On-Demand Sit & Go, which guarantees at least one ticket to Step 3 – a $10 Multi Table Tournament that takes place once or twice daily and awards a $100 Bronze Pass.

The $100 Bronze Ticket can be used for a few different types of online events, including a $100 qualifier that offers entries into the $1,000 bi-weekly NAPT Satellites where one in every ten players receives a $10,000 NAPT Las Vegas Gold Pass.

The Gold Pass consists of the buy-in for the $5,300 Main Event while the rest of the value covers travel and luxury accommodation during the tournament.

So, to recap, the way to qualify via Path to NAPT is as follows:

  1. Step 1: $0.50 Spin & Go qualifiers awarding entries into higher steps (usually Step 2)
  2. Step 2: $1.50 On Demand Sit & Go awarding at least one entry into the $10 MTT Qualifier
  3. Step 3: $10 MTT Satellite featuring $100 Bronze Passes
  4. Step 4: Use your Bronze Pass to enter a $100 qualifier to the bi-weekly $1,000 NAPT Las Vegas Satellite
  5. Step 5: Play in the main satellite, where one in ten player receives an NAPT Las Vegas Gold Pass

Of course, you don’t have to start at Step 1. Players are free to buy in directly into any step they like, but with the first step starting at just $0.50, even those with the smallest of bankrolls can fight for their shot at NAPT glory.

Other Online Qualifiers

In addition to Path to NAPT, PokerStars will give players a few more opportunities to win Gold Passes for the Main Event.

During the upcoming USCOOP / PACOOP / ONCOOP events, there will be one pass up for grabs in each of the series, most likely given to the Main Event winner, but details on this are yet to be released.

Finally, there will be a last chance MTT satellite where at least one NAPT Gold Pass will be awarded, and the dates for this final qualifier will be revealed in the near future as well.

Live Satellites

Ahead of the NAPT Las Vegas stop PokerStars published a list of live satellites that helped players avoid paying the full sticker price of these events.

In addition to these direct satellites, players can also win Gold Passes to the Las Vegas event during two regional events taking place in August and September in Maryland and Philadelphia. Each Main Event winner at these regional stops will receive an NAPT Gold Pass.

NAPT Las Vegas 2023

The NAPT made a triumphant return after a 12-year hiatus back in November 2023.

Action kicked off in Las Vegas in November 2023. PokerStars chose the iconic Resorts World Las Vegas as the perfect setting for the first stop of the 2023 NAPT. There was a High Roller, Super High Roller, and Mystery Bounty events, a PokerStars Cup, and a Main Event for players to choose from.

The Main Event took place between November 6 to 11 and exceeding its $1.5 million guarantee. There were six Day 1 flights, allowing players their chance to get a seat at the table.

“For us, we are putting the focus on providing an incredible on-site experience for all of our players while creating great content,”Steve Preiss, VP at PokerStars North America told pokerfuse ahead of the NAPT November 2023 stop. “PokerStars has always truly been a customer-first brand. We strive to provide our players a safe environment with world-class service. That’s the same goal offline too.”

There was comprehensive streaming schedule with commentary from PokerStars alumni, James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton. Maria Ho, Nick Walsh, and Griffin Benger. In addition to the English stream, a Brazilian-Portuguese broadcast was available on the operator’s Brazilian channels and commentated by Felipe de Paulo and Flavio del Valle.

Ahead of the NAPT Las Vegas stop, PokerStars were also busy signing talent.

A partnership with NextGen Poker, a team of poker enthusiasts running a YouTube channel with over 200,000 subscribers is one such signing. Jack, Rosey, and Frankie, the faces behind NextGen Poker, will become brand ambassadors for the US markets and help provide a unique coverage of operator’s live events to new audiences.

Someone else to join the ambassador ranks, is a name familiar to PokerStars, New York Times Bestselling author Maria Konnikova. Konnikova returns as a brand ambassador to PokerStars after a 4 year hiatus.

Konnikova will highlight the operator’s ongoing investment in the US and Ontario markets.

“I’m very happy to once again be joining the PokerStars team as an ambassador,” said Maria Konnikova, via press release. “Poker is a game of skill that can teach us so much about our minds and ourselves — and I can’t wait to share my passion for it along with the incredible team at PokerStars. I’m quite excited for the vision that PokerStars has for U.S. expansion and am thrilled to play a small part in helping the world appreciate the true beauty and promise of a game I have come to love.”

PokerStars X Oracle Red Bull Racing

Both brands of PokerStars and Oracle Red Bull Racing (ORBR) where heavily intertwined in the run up, during and post the NAPT Las Vegas stop.

Since 2022, PokerStars has been an official sponsor of Oracle Red Bull Racing, but 2023 saw the partnership strengthen more than ever, as the hotly anticipated Las Vegas Formula 1 stop runs in Vegas just a week after the conclusion of the NAPT Las Vegas stop.

Not only did PokerStars and ORBR work together to give fifty lucky players Vegas Gold Passes worth over $20k, allowing them not only to join the NAPT action but also to stay after the event, watch all races, and enjoy a full-scale Oracle Red Bull Racing fan experience. But now, PokerStars are giving players a once in a lifetime chance to win bespoke F1 wheel covers that will be signed by three-time World Champion Max Verstappen and his ORBR teammate, Sergio Perez

Three charity tournaments between the pair ran at Resorts World Las Vegas on November 16, 17, and 18.

These charity initiatives support ORBR’s official charity partner, Wings for Life, founded by Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz, who was committed to advancing spinal cord injury research through funding world-class scientific studies and clinical trials.

The Return of The Big Game

The Las Vegas stop saw the return of PokerStar’s popular poker show The Big Game — this time dubbed The Big Game on Tour.

How it works:

  • The popular show pitches one amateur or “loose cannon” against five professional players.
  • The loose cannon gets to keep anything over the initial buy-in after playing a predetermined number of hands, but they cannot take home any part of the original buy-in.
  • To become a loose cannon players will have the chance to enter a satellite tournament on November 5 alongside the NAPT.
  • These exclusive shootout tournaments will result in 20 finalists who will advance to the casting stage.
  • The chosen 20 finalist will have to audition in front of a panel of judges, and two of them will receive a $50,000 buy-in.
  • PokerStars will then proceed to produce a series of 10 episodes to be aired in 2024.

During the NAPT Las Vegas stop both loose cannon spots went to female players Lily Newhouse and Nikki Limo. Both ladies successfully made their way through qualifying freerolls during NAPT Las Vegas, beating their respective tables and moving to the audition stage.

The NAPT History

Back in 2010, the NAPT debuted with stops in the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Connecticut, and Los Angeles.

NAPT Mohegan Sun ran for five days, concluding on April 13, 2011 — just two days before Black Friday on April 15.

North American Championship of Online Poker (NACOOP): How It Relates to the NAPT

The North American Championship of Online Poker (NACOOP) played out online in the Fall of 2023, and Main Event winners were gifted NAPT Las Vegas Main Event entry, plus a seat at the NAPT High Roller event.

It was the first time ever that PokerStars ran a NACOOP series across Ontario, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It will be expected that another Main Event entry is given away this fall during NACOOP ahead of the NAPT.

Resorts World, Home to the NAPT

The NAPT took place in Resorts World, Las Vegas which can be found on the north end of the Las Vegas strip near the Wynn and Encore properties.
