For the 2025 edition of the World Series of Poker buy-ins ranged between $300 and went all the way to $25,000. There were fewer freezeout events in 2025, but 6 new events were added.
New events for 2025 included TORSE, a twist on HORSE, a $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em, and new high roller tournaments included $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event and a $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mixed 8-Handed. The $1,500 Mixed Bomb Pot Double event introduced in 2024 only played out in a PLO-only format, with No-Limit Hold’em element removed.
Another new event was Battle of the Ages that is two-day event split into two sections: one exclusively for players over 50 and the other for those under 50. It comes with a buy-in of $1,000.
Events that didn’t appear in 2025 included Flip & Go by GGPoker, The Champions Reunion Freezeout, and the $3,000 HORSE event.
Like previous years most WSOP tournaments did not feature guaranteed prize pools.
However, there are always some that do. For example, the Gladiators of Poker NLH, had a $3 million guaranteed prize pool. The Millionaire Maker and Mystery Millions did not have guarantees, but ensured a $1 million first-place payout.
Fan favorite events returned for 2025 such as Mystery Millions and the Gladiators of Poker Event. Other events have had slight name changes such as the Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em event changing to a broader Industry Employees event.
The 2025 WSOP Main Event was one to remember. The final table was one for the ages, with Winamax Ambassador making history and Michael Mizarchi putting on an absolute clinic to take the title.
The 2025 WSOP banned phones and all electronic devices from the final three tables of all tournaments.
While mobile phones have been restricted from use during hands and required to be kept on silent these new rules go a step further, stating that all electronic devices must be completely removed from the table and are strictly prohibited from use. This applied to the final three tables.
No device were allowed at any time during a featured or streamed tables. Players could only access their devices during breaks or after elimination. In addition, no coaching was allowed from anywhere within the tournament room.
The new rules also prohibited the use (from players and spectators) of charts, apps, artificial intelligence, or any other form of electronic assistance. This ruling followed the controversy during the 2024 WSOP Main Event Final Table, where a player’s rail was accused of using poker solvers during heads-up play.
With players from New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Nevada joined together on one platform, 2025 was a stand out year for the WSOP online bracelet series.
The online schedule featured 30 bracelet events that ran May 31 to July 15 alongside the live series. The series paid out nearly $30 million and drew over 50,000 entries.

Two weeks after the record-breaking WSOP 2024 wrapped in Las Vegas, Caesars Entertainment agreed to sell their entire WSOP brand to the parent company of GGPoker.
Caesars said via a statement that GGPoker’s parent company NSUS Group Incorporated would pay $250 million up front, with the remaining $250 million due five years after the closing date of the transaction.
However, fans of the WSOP brand will be pleased to hear that drastic changes to live events are not happening any time soon. As part of the deal, Caesars “secured the right from NSUS to continue hosting” the WSOP live tournament series from its Las Vegas properties for the next 20 years.
WSOP Circuit events will also continue to be operated and held in Caesars properties under the WSOP branding — but cross promotion with the GGPoker brand is also to be expected.
Online the WSOP Online remains a stand alone brand with GGPoker sites only appearing in Ontario and rest of world markets. Whether this changes in the future remains to be seen.
