WSOP Ontario Online Circuit Series: At a Glance

  • Runs for 16 days
  • 12 Ring Events
  • Over CAD $2.5 million in Guaranteed Prize Money
  • 12 Winners Take Home a Coveted WSOP Gold Ring
  • Dozens of Side Events
  • Buy-ins Start From $21 and Go Up to $1050
  • Ontario Circuit Main Event is the Largest Guaranteed Tournament

The very first WSOP Ontario Online Circuit Series guarantees a whopping CAD $2,500,000, over a dozen ring events, and plenty of side events. It is Ontario’s largest-guaranteed online tournament series, and it is not surprising that GGPoker/WSOP is the powerhouse team claiming that title.

Kicking off today, 12 ring events are scheduled through to October 16 — that’s 12 chances for Ontario online poker players to take home a coveted piece of WSOP gold bling.

Buy-ins for the ring events start from CAD $50 and go up to CAD $1050. The buy-ins for non-ring events are pretty affordable, starting at just CAD $21.

The prestigious WSOPC rings, coupled with huge guarantees, are expected to attract players in large numbers. The guarantees for the events are pretty ambitious, considering that the player pool is confined to the province only.

For instance, the CAD $525 Ontario Circuit Main Event has the largest guaranteed tournament, sporting CAD $250,000 in prize money. It would need to attract 500 entries to cover the guarantee.

The CAD $50 buy-in Housewarming — the cheapest ring on the schedule is even more ambitious. Boasting CAD $100,000, it would need to pull around 2200 entries to avoid an overlay. The Main and the Housewarming events are structured as flight events, supported by multiple Day 1s.

But that’s not all; several other standout events with six-figure guarantees, including the BIG 500 Kickoff, also promising CAD $100,000 for a price tag of CAD $500. A FIFTY Stack Bounty event promises CAD $50,000 prize money for a buy-in of CAD $55.

Four card lovers would be glad to see the Bounty Deepstack PLO event scheduled featuring CAD $100,000 for a buy-in of CAD $840. Every ring event minus one guarantees at least CAD $100,000.

“Growing up in Toronto, I dreamed of playing in the World Series of Poker,” said six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Global Ambassador, in the press release. “Now, twenty-five years after I moved to Las Vegas to chase WSOP bracelets, you can compete online in WSOP events in Ontario, all running on GGPoker’s amazing platform — how cool is that?”

As with other WSOP exclusive events on GGPoker, final tablists will have their real names displayed on the table, while all those who reach the money will have their real names revealed following the tournament’s conclusion. No deals will be allowed at the final table of any ring events.

To help players get started with Ontario’s inaugural Online Circuit Series, WSOP Ontario will run daily Welcome to Ontario Freerolls giving away seats to the ring events.

WSOP Ontario Online Circuit Series runs from October 1 through to October 16.
