Borgata Poker, PartyPoker New Jersey Introduce SNG Leaderboards
Key Takeaways
  • $2000 will be given away each week in two leaderboards, and winners are invited to a final “winner takes all” tournament with $1000 for first place.
  • One leaderboard is for SNGs $10 and lower, another for bigger buy-in tournaments.

The partypoker New Jersey network has introduced a five-week long Leaderboard promotion for Sit and Go players.

From now through August 10, Sit & Go players will be awarded a total of $11,000 in freeroll prizes. The promotion is similar in nature to the WSOP New Jersey contest, which was held earlier this year.

Two Tiers

$2000 will be given away each week in two leaderboards, and winners are invited to a final “winner takes all” tournament with $1000 for first place.

Each week, two leaderboards run—a low-stakes board for SNG buy-ins $10 and lower, and a high-buyin board for larger tournaments—with $1000 paid out in each.

More players in the lower tier will be awarded a prize, with the $1,000 dividing among the top 40 finishers. The higher tier pays out $1000 to just the top nine.

It is not clear whether the leaderboard is shared between party and Borgata, or whether the two will run separate promotions and award their own prizes.

Revenue Decline

Revenues for legalized online poker sites in New Jersey have been sliding since April.

Online poker traditionally suffers a seasonal downward trend during warmer-weather periods, online poker in the regulated Nevada market has picked up due to the 2014 WSOP and its focus on both the live and online poker experience.

Some of this has had an affect in New Jersey too—traffic has flatlined, halting the seasonal decline, and WSOP New Jersey is now nipping at the heals of party/Borgata to become first in the market.
