The Main Event of the 54th Annual World Series of Poker promises to be the biggest one yet. The organizers and their live and online partners have teamed up to make this a reality, and if early indications are anything to go by, the WSOP 2023 Main Event could be the one to finally break the record that has been in place since 2006.
If that goal is achieved, the upcoming event will also have the biggest prize pool in history, making it much more attractive to professional players and keen amateurs alike.
However, as appealing as the idea of playing in the Main Event may be, the admission price of $10,000 is too high for many hopefuls out there. It is not a small amount by any stretch of the imagination, even for some serious professionals.
Luckily, you can qualify for the 2023 WSOP online in many ways, playing from the comfort of your own home and risking only a small fraction of the full buy-in. This article breaks down all the different ways you can win a seat in what will likely be a truly historic Main Event.
WSOP.com Satellites for US Players
Those playing online poker for real money in the US can try their hand at winning a Main Event seat via the WSOP online platform currently available in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Delaware.
The simplest way to try and qualify is via $215 satellites running on the sites, awarding one Main Event seat for every $10,000 collected in the prize pool. It is important to note that winners are given $10,000 worth of chips that can be used to buy into any WSOP events, so you do not necessarily have to play the Main if you win — you can also use the chips to enter a few smaller events.
One downside of these satellites is that they only include the buy-in. You will still need to take care of travel and accommodations. It probably will not be too much of a hassle once you know you get to play on the big stage, but it is still something to keep in mind.
Seat Sprints & All-In Satellites
Starting on June 25, WSOP.com will kick things into higher gear, offering more opportunities for the players to qualify for the Main Event.
Seat Sprints will award a total of 112 seats, with one special satellite every single day, awarding 10 Main Event seats. On Sunday, July 2, there will be a special 25 Seat Scramble, awarding additional 25 seats for the big show.
If none of these work for you, WSOP.com will also offer daily All-In Satellites between June 25 and July 8. These will be $80 and $126 satellites with no rake, where all players are forced all-in every hand until the winners are found.
GGPoker Main Event Qualifiers
Players hailing from the UK, Canada (except Ontario), and many more countries worldwide have numerous opportunities to win a Main Event seat on GGPoker. The operator has been the World Series partner for the past few years, and they are fully committed to helping break the participation record at the 2023 WSOP.
GGPoker’s Road to Vegas promotion will see at least 600 players sent to Las Vegas, and you can get started with the journey for as little as $1 or even for free via freeroll qualifiers.
Those who make it all the way will receive a Main Event package worth $12,000, covering your tournament entry, travel, and accommodations. So, if you happen to win, you’ll be in great shape, with nothing standing between you and your shot at the most coveted trophy in all of poker.
GGPoker Ontario Is in the Mix
Players in the Canadian province of Ontario will also have a fair chance at Main Event seats. The GGPoker Ontario real money platform has joined the Road to Vegas promotion, giving Ontarians ample opportunities to book their tickets for the summer show in Las Vegas.
Winners will receive a CAD 16.2k package, equivalent to the $12,000 package available to players in other ROW jurisdictions. Other than this, the setup is quite similar, with players having to go through multiple stages to reach the final qualifier and fight for the main prize (or buy directly into the final stage).
No matter where you are and what your bankroll might be, there are many opportunities available to try and be a part of the 2023 WSOP Main Event. Those who succeed will have a lot to look forward to, as this World Series might be the one for poker history books!
