Bounty tournament poker is all the rage across the world right now, as various knockout formats seem to permeate the schedules of online and live poker calendars. Now, 888poker is going all in on the knockouts with the Knockout Games running from Nov 26 through Dec 12 on the global online poker client.
Traditionally, tournament poker was all about outlasting other players to make it into the money spots in the top 10-20% of the field. That was the only way players could make money from the traditional MTTs, but when bounty games hit the scene, players jumped on a format that allowed for an extra way to cash in — collecting bounties from players you knock out of the game.
The game’s popularity has soared with various modified formats like progressive and mystery bounties, and now, to close out 2023, 888poker is throwing an all-knockout, all-the-time party on its online client. The games start on November 26 with the Mystery Bounty Opening, the third highest guarantee of the series, at $120k.
The knockout action continues through December 12, when the final day of the massive $200k guaranteed Main Event will run. That game is made even more massive by the tiny $25 price tag attached to its $200k guarantee, making it the highest-value game of the series by a mile.
29 Games Plus Side Events Over 17 Days of Knockout Action
More than $1 million is guaranteed in the 29 numbered events in the upcoming Knockout Games from 888poker. That does not even include the side game action running throughout the series, so there will be a lot of money at stake as November turns to December.
The Main Event is always supposed to be the most prestigious event of any series, with the biggest prizes, and the Knockout Series will not disappoint on that front. With a price tag of just $25 and a guarantee of $200,000, 888poker is being completely honest with the title of the game this time around — Main Event Mystery Bounty – Overlay Edition.
Not even the operator expects the game to make the guarantee, meaning there will be lots of dead money in the prize pool for players to divvy up. That is reflected in the value of the game (as measured by the dollars guaranteed per dollar of buy-in, $GTD/$BI), which is far and away the best-value game in the series with $8,000 $GTD/$BI.
There are multiple chances to get into Day 2 on December 11, with Day 1 flights starting on December 5 and the final table closing the series on December 12.
Other High-Value Games to Watch For
While the Main Event stands well above the rest of the series in terms of value, there are also a few other games with four digits of value. One other game carries a $200k guarantee, KO Games #19 — Mystery Bounty. That event is another multi-day affair with multiple Day 1 flights starting November 28.
While the guarantee on #19 matches the Main Event, the price tag is a bit higher at $162. That still means there is $1,234.57 $GTD/$BI of value in the game for second place on the value list.
KO Games #02 — Mystery Bounty Opening is also one to watch for, coming in third on the value list with just over $1,100 $GTD/$BI. There is $120k guaranteed in that one, making it the third-largest guarantee of the series, for a price of $109.
Event #28 also gets an honorable mention for value, as it just missed the four-digit mark but is the only other game with six digits guaranteed.
