Merge Skins Overbet, IronDuke Close
Key Takeaways
  • Two more skins added to long list of recent Merge closures.
  • Balances will be transferred to “preferred partner” Carbon, SportsBook.com or Players Only.

Two more skins on the Merge Poker Network, OverBet.com and IronDuke Poker, have closed their doors.

A brief message confirming OverBet’s sale to a “third party,” appearing both on the overbet.com website and within the OverBet-branded client software (as of the most recent update), assures players that “funds are safe” and recommends that players pick a “preferred partner” to move their account.

On the website, the message is signed “OverBet,” while within the software, the same message is signed “Merge Gaming.” Whether Merge or its flagship site Carbon Poker is the third party that OverBet has been sold to remains unconfirmed.

IronDuke’s closure/absorption by Merge also remains officially unconfirmed, but was first reported two weeks ago in a discussion at the CardsChat.com poker forums and has been subsequently confirmed on other sites.

Players on both sites are expected to retain their cash balances, but may lose their VIP points and secondary benefits as part of the transition.

The referral for OverBet players to move to one of Merge’s “preferred partners” lands at a website with links to only three Merge sites—Carbon Poker, SportsBook.com and Players Only.

The closures of OverBet and IronDuke continue an internal restructuring at Merge that began with the prominent breakup with Lock Poker.
